About This Position

Description:

Summary

Eustis Engineering is seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer for our Glastonbury, CT office. This position is ideal for a motivated individual interested in developing both field and analytical skills. The selected candidate will work closely with experienced engineers and technicians and contribute to a variety of geotechnical and construction-related projects.

The employee will be subject to random screening as part of Eustis Engineering’s alcohol and drug use testing program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Staff Geotechnical Engineer duties include the following. Others may be assigned.

  • Utilize GPS and related tools to support planning and execution of geotechnical field work
  • Log soil borings and assist with subsurface investigations
  • Provide oversight of subcontractors, including drilling crews and traffic control
  • Assist in preparing plans, figures, and data summaries using engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD)
  • Coordinate and review laboratory testing of soil and construction materials
  • Perform engineering calculations to support geotechnical analyses and designs
  • Assist in preparation of geotechnical reports and proposals
  • Observe construction activities and perform materials testing as needed
  • Plan and coordinate field investigations and testing activities
  • Prepare and review field and laboratory reports

Other duties of the Project Engineer include the following.

  • Attends occasional project meetings.
  • Participates in local professional societies (ASCE, ACI, ACEC, etc.).
Requirements:

Required Skills/Experience

  • 0–3 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Ability and willingness to perform field work, including travel as required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in outdoor and construction site conditions

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Internship or prior experience in geotechnical engineering, construction, or related field
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain
  • Master’s degree (preferred but not required)

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening
