Porter- Penn South at JASA – New York, New York

Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday: 9AM-5PM

General Duties & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Program Director of Penn South for Seniors NORC-SSP, the porter maintains responsibility for the cleanliness of all program spaces, including offices, classrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and common areas, as well as supports Group Services staff with set-up and break-down for all program activities.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

∙ Manages the cleaning and maintenance of all program spaces

o Cleans, dusts, mops, washes and waxes floors.

o Cleans all inside windows and glass partitions.

o Empties wastepaper baskets and collects trash. Places into garbage bags or bundles with twine for placement in designated collection area for removal. Regularly washes wastebaskets.

o Dusts and cleans furniture, office equipment, window sills and pictures.

o Cleans and disinfects staff kitchen and all bathrooms.

o Restocks paper products and soap dispensers.

o Removes marks from walls and doors.

o Cleans out clogged plumbing lines, seals leaks, replaces washers, and performs other minor plumbing repairs.

o Repairs broken furniture, replaces loose tiles, plasters cracks and holes, and replaces worn out parts of simple machines and equipment.

o Maintains inventory of paper products and cleaning supplies, and informs Administrative Assistant when new items are needed.

∙ Assists the Group Services Team with all program activities

o Set-ups and break-downs classrooms before/after programs

o Transports supplies and equipment to/from other program locations ∙ Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

∙ High School graduate preferred

∙ Able to read, speak and follow directions in English

∙ Able to do heavy lifting, move furniture or office equipment, and carry packages. ∙ Able to climb stairs, climb a ladder, and bend.

∙ Able to work an occasional evening or weekend as assigned.
