About This Position

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

  • Supportsquality-related functions, such as ISO administration, customer complaint activity, and corrective action programs for theTalc Operations.

JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS

  • Compiles andmaintainsQualityrecords and related databases
  • Works with local and corporate HSEQ departments to coordinate systems integration andparticipatesin integrated systems auditing, as directed.
  • Works closely with operations to support & ensure compliance of all associated quality functions
  • Works closely withQC Lab and personnel.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fully supports thelocationhealth, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) programs byparticipatingin their implementation, maintenance, and enforcement as well as compliance with corporate programs and policies.
  • Assistswith the investigation and resolution of customer complaints
  • Assistswithquality-assurance activities, including, but not necessarily limited to, root cause analysis, implementation of corrective action plans for quality problems and customer complaints, distribution of new and revised specifications, preparation for training programs and quality meetings, and performance of audits.
  • Assistsin the managementofQ and ISO documentation, Food Safety Program, UL Certification, maintenance, and control to ensure that all such recordscomply withestablished standards.
  • Ensures that quality-assurance equipment is properlymaintainedby QC Lab and verifiescalibrationof such equipment.
  • Orderslab supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Documents andsummarizesquality problems and concerns. Verifies that procedures and record keeping correspond to ISO documentation. Provides a systematic approach to quantifying steps taken toward corrective action and innovative quality.
  • Coordinates with marketing, customer service personnel, customers, and salespeopleregardingproduct samples.
  • Participatesin internal,externaland customer audits.
  • Assistswith planning and organizing training activities related to product quality and reliability, including statistical process control.
  • Applies knowledge of administrative procedures, ISO, statistics, and/or quality systems to investigateimprovementideas and solve problems.
  • Assistsindetermininghow to handle disposition of non-conforming products including deviation procedures, rework, scrap, or other disposition.
  • Ensures thatretainsofproductare kept appropriately.
  • Maintains courteous, professional relationships with company line and staff functions, customers, customer service representatives, sales, and technical personnel.
  • Sets up, adjusts andoperateslaboratory equipment and instruments for tests todetermineviscosity, oil absorption, particle size, color, density, orsuch otherproduct tests as may berequired.
  • Tests and analyzes product samples to verify conformity to specifications.
  • Sets up laboratory equipment and instrumentationrequiredfor tests or process control.
  • Records test results on forms.
  • Cleans laboratory equipment and work area.
  • Calibrates and performs routine maintenance on laboratory equipment orassistsin the performance ofsame.
  • Collectsproduct samples frommilling areas whenrequired.
  • Maintains records on production specifications, test results, and other quality-assurance performance data.
  • Assistswith miscellaneous quality-related projects and ISO documentation or other record maintenance forthe MTMills.
  • Responsible for Calibration and maintenance of lab equipment attheMTMills.
  • Aids inadditionaltest workrequiredfor specialty products forthe MTMills,i.e.chemical analysis, extra sampling, Malvern testing, etc.
  • Serves as backup contact for quality inquiries and lab equipment troubleshooting.
  • Other duties that may berequiredfrom time to time.

OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS

  • Effectively coordinate and carry outQ-related functions forSiteOperations.
  • Effectivelymaintainthe Quality System.
  • Managesday-to-daychallenges associated withvaried taskswithin theQMS.
  • General latitude to make decisions and achieveobjectivesofthe position, with input and guidance from Senior Manager or applicable Corporate Staff.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in a related fieldpreferred; or
  • 3 to 5 years of experience and/or training; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics:
