About This Position

POSITION SUMMARY:The Accounting Specialist A/P position is responsible for completing payments and controlling expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions

  2. Create, export and post all accounts payable invoices from the inventory management system into Great Plains. Address errors/issues as necessary.
  3. Process manual G& A invoices and expense reports; including verifying approval, general ledger coding, and entry into Great Plains.
  4. Process disbursements on a weekly basis.
  5. Perform vendor reconciliations and adjustments per vendor statements.
  6. Prepare reports, as required or requested.
  7. Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
  8. Participate in meetings and training sessions, as requested.
  9. Serve as the primary contact for field personnel for general inquiries regarding accounts payable , BOSS, inventory, commodities, and weekly and monthly tasks.
  10. Assist the Accounting Manager in gathering documentation and responding to general audit inquiries.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma, required

Experience:

  1. Minimum two years' experience in a similar position with strong knowledge of general accounting principles highly desired.
  2. Previous experience with Great Plains, a plus.
  3. Ability to meet deadlines in a demanding and frequently changing environment.
  4. Must be able to appropriately handle confidential information.
  5. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  6. Strong ability to communicate effectively, orally or in writing, with all levels of the organization. Able to write basic business correspondence and memos.
  7. Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and follow-up skills using positive customer service techniques.
  9. Demonstrated teamwork skills.
  10. Proficient in the use of MS Office.

  • Annual Leadership Conference – Possible four days away from home
  • Business Reviews – Attendance to one Business Review per school year, with a possible overnight stay depending on location.
