Caprock Academy is seeking a READ educational assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. Caprock Academy is a public, tuition-free school chartered by the Colorado Charter School Institute and utilizes the timeless principles of classically oriented education.

The READ Educational Assistant reports directly to the READ Teacher. This position supports the implementation of academic interventions and student support services under the direction of the READ Teacher. The READ Educational Assistant assists students in achieving academic success while supporting teachers and administration in fulfilling Caprock Academy’s mission of developing academic excellence and personal leadership within its student body.

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, non-exempt

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, full-time

WORK HOURS: 32-40 hours per week

PAY RANGE: Starting at $15.91 hourly, based on experience

REPORTS TO: READ Teacher

Requirements:

Essential Duties:

  • Implement targeted literacy interventions in small-group and individual settings aligned to student READ plans and instructional goals;
  • Assist in administering literacy assessments and progress monitoring tools and maintain accurate student data records;
  • Support the READ Teacher in tracking student growth, organizing assessment data, and preparing instructional materials;
  • Reinforce phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension skills through structured intervention lessons;
  • Assist classroom teachers and staff in supporting student literacy development and intervention strategies;
  • Maintain organized student records, intervention documentation, and instructional materials;
  • Supervise students as assigned to support a safe and orderly school environment;
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development related to literacy intervention and student support services;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred;
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred;
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn effective literacy intervention practices and grade-level reading instruction;
  • Ability to support small-group and individual student instruction under the direction of the READ Teacher;
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with students, staff, and families;
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage student information appropriately;
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and classical education philosophy of Caprock Academy.

Required Upon Hiring / Within First Year:

  • Candidates without a college degree must successfully complete the Praxis Parapro Assessment within the first calendar year of employment;
  • Complete Colorado Department of Education (CDE) READ Act training within the first year of employment, if not already completed;
  • Complete Orton-Gillingham training (provided by Caprock Academy), if not already completed;
  • Complete Love and Logic training program (provided by Caprock Academy).
