Job Description

Director, Revenue Cycle Operations

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director, Revenue Cycle Operations in the United States.

This role sits at the center of healthcare financial operations, leading a defined segment of revenue cycle management within a large, multi-client environment. You will oversee operational performance for a specific AR scope such as payer groups, denial categories, billing workflows, or collections queues, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong financial outcomes. Unlike traditional end-to-end revenue cycle roles, this position focuses on modular ownership while collaborating across adjacent teams to optimize overall client performance. You will lead large distributed teams, maintain direct client-facing responsibility, and operate in a fast-paced, data-driven environment. The role requires strong operational discipline, real-time decision-making, and the ability to translate complex workflows into measurable results. It is highly visible, leadership-intensive, and central to improving healthcare revenue performance at scale.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and manage up to 100 FTEs delivering modular revenue cycle management services across professional and hospital billing environments, ensuring performance, quality, and productivity standards are met.
  • Own operational outcomes for an assigned AR scope, including payer segments, denial management, billing workflows, or collections queues, aligned with client goals and SLAs.
  • Make real-time staffing, prioritization, and capacity decisions based on fluctuating inventory, payer behavior, and workflow demand.
  • Serve as the primary operational client contact for your assigned scope, independently managing routine performance discussions and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with peer directors and cross-functional leaders to ensure seamless coordination across the broader revenue cycle ecosystem.
  • Monitor and analyze productivity, compliance, quality, and financial performance using operational dashboards and queue-level reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to payer rules, regulatory requirements, and client-specific policies across all workflows.
  • Lead, coach, and develop frontline managers and supervisors within a fully remote operating model.
  • Actively engage with operational data and workflows to drive hands-on leadership and continuous performance improvement.
Requirements

This role requires strong experience in revenue cycle management, with a proven ability to lead large teams and manage high-volume operational environments. The ideal candidate combines deep operational expertise with strong analytical skills and confident client-facing leadership. Experience working within modular or segmented revenue cycle models is essential, along with the ability to operate independently within a defined scope while contributing to broader organizational outcomes.

  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in revenue cycle management
  • 3–5+ years of direct people leadership managing teams of 50–100+ employees
  • Experience operating within modular or segmented AR/revenue cycle models rather than full end-to-end ownership
  • Strong background in both professional billing and hospital/facility billing environments
  • Proven client-facing experience with the ability to independently manage operational discussions
  • Experience making staffing, prioritization, and capacity decisions in high-volume, variable workflow settings
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills
  • Ability to lead and manage fully remote teams effectively
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary ranging approximately from $110,000 to $147,768 annually depending on experience and location
  • Eligibility for annual bonus program with target up to 20% of base compensation
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage including medical, dental, and vision plans
  • Paid time off and holiday benefits
  • Retirement savings plan options
  • Fully remote work flexibility within the United States
  • Opportunity to lead large-scale operational teams in a high-impact healthcare environment
  • Exposure to advanced revenue cycle technologies, analytics, and process optimization tools
  • Career development and internal growth opportunities within a large healthcare services organization
  • Inclusive, mission-driven culture focused on improving healthcare financial performance and patient outcomes.
