At Puyallup Tribal Health Authority (PTHA), we know that starting your career as a Medical Assistant is a big milestone. If you’ve recently completed your Medical Assistant program and are ready to grow your skills in a supportive, hands-on clinical environment, this is a great place to begin.

We’re hiring a Medical Assistant (MA-C) who is eager to learn, excited to work with patients of all ages, and ready to be part of a team that truly supports one another.

Why This is a Great First Step in Your Medical Assistant Career

Starting your first Medical Assistant role can feel overwhelming — so we’ve built a supportive environment where you can learn, grow, and gain confidence. At PTHA, you’ll get:

  • Support from experienced Medical Assistants, nurses, and providers
  • Opportunities to build clinical skills across a wide range of services

  • A mission-driven workplace serving the Indigenous community

We don’t expect perfection — we expect curiosity, effort, and a willingness to learn.

Why You'll Love Working Here:

  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees
  • No weekends or major holidays required
  • Generous paid time off + 18+ paid holidays (including your birthday!)
  • 401(k) with annual profit-sharing contributions after eligibility requirements are met
  • Mission-driven work serving the Indigenous community
  • Supportive, team-oriented culture where MAs are respected and valued
  • Opportunities for growth, training, and professional development
  • Eligible employer for student loan repayment programs

At PTHA, we believe healthcare should be compassionate, culturally respectful, and community-centered. You’ll join a collaborative team dedicated to improving the health and wellness of patients of all ages in a welcoming environment.

What You’ll Do:

As a Medical Assistant, you’ll be trained and supported as you take on important clinical and administrative responsibilities, including:

  • Rooming patients and helping them feel comfortable before their visit
  • Taking vital signs and gathering basic patient history
  • Assisting with exams and procedures alongside providers
  • Learning to administer immunizations and medications (with supervision and certification)
  • Supporting basic lab work, phlebotomy, and diagnostic testing (with training and certification)
  • Helping keep exam rooms organized, stocked, and clean
  • Supporting scheduling, phone calls, and electronic health record documentation
  • Working closely with your care team to ensure smooth patient flow

What You Bring:

  • Current WA State Medical Assistant Certification (MA-C) (Pending MA-C applications may be considered if certification will be active by hire date)
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a clinical setting
  • Strong communication skills and a patient-first attitude
