Job Summary:

The Lot Operations Staff – Forklift supports auction lot operations by safely operating forklifts and material handling equipment to move vehicles, materials, and equipment across auction property. This role ensures proper staging, yard organization, and support for operational workflows while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards. The Forklift Operator assists with lot organization, sale-day readiness, and general yard support activities in fast-paced outdoor environments.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Operates forklifts and material handling equipment safely and in accordance with company safety procedures.
  • Moves vehicles, pallets, equipment, and materials to designated staging, storage, or operational areas.
  • Supports lot organization by assisting with vehicle positioning, space management, and yard flow.
  • Conducts pre-operation inspections of forklifts and reports mechanical or safety issues promptly.
  • Follows established traffic patterns and safety protocols when operating equipment in high-traffic areas.
  • Assists with setup and breakdown of sale-day staging areas and operational zones as assigned.
  • Supports loading, unloading, and movement of operational materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment storage zones.
  • Communicates with supervisors and lot personnel to ensure coordinated movement and task completion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrates safe forklift operation and strong awareness of surroundings.
  • Applies strong attention to detail and safety when working around vehicles and pedestrians.
  • Communicates clearly and works effectively within a team-based operational environment.
  • Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, and ability to follow directions.
  • Maintains focus and control in fast-paced, high-traffic outdoor environments.
  • Follows operational procedures and safety guidelines consistently.
  • Demonstrates ability to operate equipment responsibly and maintain awareness of load stability.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least 1 year of forklift or material handling equipment experience preferred.
  • Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification required.
  • Experience in automotive, warehouse, logistics, or yard operations preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate forklifts and equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move across large lots throughout the shift.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
