About This Position
Job Summary:
The Patient Care Supervisor is accountable and responsible under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services, for the coordination and direction of nursing activities. Must be able to clinically participate in all components of the nursing process. Employs organizational strategies in a balanced approach that produces meaningful contributions to each element of the Formula for Success. Responsible for the entire operations of clinical care and oversees all hospital operations while on duty.
Performance Expectations:
-
Evaluates performance of assigned staff.
Resolve daily problems and patient care concerns independently.
Collaborates with, provides coaching, assist nursing staff with care decisions in professional manner.
Performs staffing and patient care duties when needed.
Completes staffing for departments and assignments for oncoming shifts to ensure nurse: patient ratio is safe.
Maintains confidentiality and dignity of the patients
Communicates and interacts in a professional manner with care providers and team members, patients/families and visitors.
Attends to, handles, resolves, and documents any patient complaints.
Notifies Director of Nursing of any concerns or unresolved complaints immediately.
Makes rounds in each area of the hospital every two hours and as needed.
Obtains all needed supplies and ordered medications after normal hours of operation.
Attends Nurse Executive Meetings.
Provides written report for oncoming supervisor.
Performs InterQual for all admissions that occur during assigned shift and collaborates the results with the physician.
Assist in transition of care for transferred patients and maintains transfer log on all patients transferred during shift
Completes OTIS forms as needed during shift, leads fall and post code huddles for occurrences
Ensures all required post mortem care documentation is completed for all patients that have expired during shift
Communicates all policy or procedure changes, educates, and implements necessary changes
Obtains all needed medications from pharmacy following correct procedure for those medications that are not located in the omincell.
Completes count in each omnicell weekly with second nurse as witness
Education/Skills
Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program with a minimum of an Associate Degree in nursing.Work Experience:
Two to five years general nursing experience with demonstrated leadership preferred.Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below Basic Life Support Within 30 Days of Employment Required Advanced Cardiac Life Support Within 90 Days of Employment Required NIH Stroke Scale Within 90 Days of Employment Required Moderate Sedation Within 30 Days of Employment Preferred Pediatric Advance Life Support Within 90 Days of Employment Preferred Trauma Nursing Core Course Within 90 Days of Employment Preferred Mental Demands: Perform under stress, follows instructions, and perform staff management skills.Scan to Apply
