About This Position

Position: Building Maintenance Technician

Reports to: Director of Maintenance

Portage Country Club seeks a Building Maintenance Worker to oversee all property maintenance-related activities. The Maintenance worker is responsible for preserving the good condition of infrastructure and ensuring that facilities are safe and well-functioning. Portage Country Club is a 132 -year-old leader in service and facilities in Akron, OH.

Essential Job Duties:

As the Building Maintenance Worker at Portage Country Club, you will:

  • Create and nurture positive member relationships, displaying a pleasant, outgoing, and caring personality and a professional style of dress and personal grooming.
  • Maintain buildings and repair mechanical systems.
  • Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair circuit breaker panels, etc.
  • Assist in the setup of ventilation, refrigeration, and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary.
  • Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality.
  • Perform Manual repairs when needed (fix locks, replace windows, etc.
  • Conduct general upkeep and other tasks as assigned (painting and carpentry).

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and continuously move for the duration of a regular shift.
  • Must be able to maneuver, bend, twist, pivot, and navigate stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. or more.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • At least three years of experience working as a maintenance technician is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems
  • Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices
  • Light Electrical and Plumbing a must.
  • Strong communication skills. Great problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to create an environment that cultivates teamwork and camaraderie among team members.
