About This Position

Position Summary

Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine and complex firefighting techniques including, fire suppression, patient rescue, vehicle extrication, structure overhaul, and wildland fire activities; performs emergency medical calls for service to the community including lift assist, vehicle extrication, life-saving medical techniques, and providing basic care to members of the public. This position is responsible for assisting with fire prevention initiatives in the community, performing station maintenance, maintaining fire and EMS equipment, and leading the volunteer firefighters or fire reserves during calls for service. Pay Rate

  • Hourly Rate: $20.63 - $25.08 (non-exempt)
  • Annual Salary Based on a 2,912 Hour Work Year: $60,084.40 to $73,032.96
  • Twelve Hour Shifts are assigned the same hourly rate as described above.
Work Schedules
  • Depending on the needs of the department, work schedules may start out as a twelve (12) hour shift variation until adequate staffing can be obtained to transition to a 48/96 schedule. The 48/96 work scheduled is based on a work year of 2,912 hours.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Class C California Drivers License.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a firefighter endorsement for operating commercial fire apparatus within six (6) months of appointment.
  • C ompletion of a State Fire Marshal Firefighter 1 Certificate.
  • Completion of a valid Title 22 California Public Safety First Aid (PSFA) training course
Preferred Qualifications Equivalent to the completion of an AS or AA degree in fire science, emergency technology, or a related field. Possession of a firefighter endorsement for operating commercial fire apparatus. Completion of a State Fire Marshal Firefighter 2 Certificate.

Examination Procedure
    Oral board exam Criminal History and Background Check: Applicants will be fingerprinted for the purpose of a search of local, state and national fingerprint files to disclose any criminal record Medical exam screening
