Opportunity (Part-Time): Operational Law Subject Matter Expert (Lawyer)

Hoplite Group is seeking an Operations Law Subject Matter Expert (Lawyer) to support Department of Defense security cooperation engagements under Section 333, Title 10. The SME will provide advisory and instructional support on the application of operations law, including rules of engagement, targeting, detention, and the integration of the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) and international humanitarian law in military operations.
Location: Remote support (CONUS) with periodic forward engagements (OCONUS) as part of a US government contract.
Level of Effort:
Deliver rule of law training seminars and advisory support on operations law to a partner nation, with emphasis on rules of engagement, targeting, detention, and the operational application of LOAC and international humanitarian law.

Level of Effort:
- Pre-Engagement: 20-30 hours
- Engagement: 40-50 hours during training seminars (OCONUS)
- Post-Engagement: Support as needed
Deliver rule of law training seminars and advisory support on operations law to a partner nation, with emphasis on rules of engagement, targeting, detention, and the operational application of LOAC and international humanitarian law.
Required Qualifications:
- A Juris Doctor's degree from an accredited college/university.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in operations law, military law, or international humanitarian/human rights law.
- Recent international instructional experience (within the last 2 years) delivering training to mid-level to senior military and security sector personnel.
- Ability to communicate complex operational legal issues effectively, lead classroom discussions, adapt material to diverse audiences, and conduct assessment, monitoring, and evaluation (AM&E).
- Demonstrated ability to work in team-based instructional environments, including austere conditions.
- Prior service as a Judge Advocate Corps (JAG) military lawyer.
- Active Department of Defense Secret security clearance required.
