JOB SUMMARY:
The following statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all work requirements, which may inherent in the position.
An Oncology Clerk is responsible for performing secretarial and administration duties as required in the daily operation of the Oncology Department such as compiling charts, faxing dictations to proper locations, and/or other clerical duties as needed. Communicates effectively and appropriately, works efficiently and productively, maintains a clean and safe environment. Reflects a caring attitude for patients, visitors, and employees. In addition, aids and assists the Patient Access Clerk and other persons within the Oncology Department as needed.
An Oncology Clerk functions under the authority of the Clinical Manager of Oncology Services, assisting both Medical and Radiation Oncology departments.
EDUCATION:
Prefer high school diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED)
SKILLS:
Must be able to interact with customers, coworkers, visitors, vendors, and physicians/physician office staff professionally.
Must have good diplomatic, communication and comprehension skills.
Must be able to demonstrate sufficient medical knowledge and spelling skills sufficient to use a medical dictionary.
Must be able to competently utilize computer programs used to complete all technical aspects of this job.
