POSITION SUMMARY:
Coordinate service to all Laboratory Outreach customers through resolution of inquiries, requests and complaints in a courteous and efficient manner. Prepare referred laboratory specimens for analysis through registration of laboratory requisitions. Enter and retrieve patient information, demographics and test results from computer. Facilitate communication of customer laboratory results through approved mechanisms. Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as, Health System initiatives. Interrupting test requirements, the ability to explain collection processes, ability to work with multiple reference laboratories, and provide support throughout the healthcare system.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent. Medical secretarial experience preferred. Successful completion of a Medical terminology course preferred. Experience in a clinical laboratory preferred.

N/A
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required. Ability to type 40 wpm required. Knowledge of medical terminology and a familiarity with a variety of laboratory systems. Ability to establish effective working relationships and clearly and calmly communicate in English both verbally and in writing with patients, medical staff and the public.
