About This Position
Job purpose
Repairs and maintains mechanical and hydraulic components of paint line machines and equipment. Perform all functions of the maintenance department and the facility, to include continuous improvement in planning, building construction, equipment modification, spare parts, preventative and predictive maintenance
Duties and responsibilities
- Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions
- Dismantle machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas
- Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems
- Removes and replaces worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system
- Realigns and adjusts components such as spindles and clutches
- Locates damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machine, and measures, cuts, threads and installs new pipe
- Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair
- Repairs broken parts
- Follows all company safety policies
- Perform the maintenance and repair of all production equipment, plant facilities, and building and grounds
- Assist in planning, scheduling, evaluating, and updating formalized preventative and predictive maintenance for all equipment. Monitor the effectiveness of these programs and handles the administration of necessary record keeping
- Assist in directing, coordinating and inspecting the activities of outside contractors
- Environmental responsibilities comprise – awareness of the importance of conformance with the environmental policy and procedures and the requirements of the environmental management system, including the potential consequences of departure from specified operating procedures; knowledge of actual or potential significant environmental impacts of the work activities associate with this position and the environmental benefits of improved personal performance; and understanding the roles and responsibilities within the position in conjunction with achieving conformance with the environmental policy and procedures and with the requirements of the environmental management system
- Complies with and supports the Brightsmith LLC ISO 9001 reporting requirements
- Measure, track and report the effectiveness of the equipment maintenance
- Assist with establishing procedures and work standards to maximize operating efficiency
- Assist with the proper record keeping of all breakdowns, preventative maintenance and building problems
- Work closely with vendors and suppliers to facilitate repairs and maintenance of building and equipment
- Review new equipment plans
- Notify purchasing department of needed parts, supplies and maintenance for facility
- Interact with vendors, customers and visitors as needed
- Loading and unloading of customers materials
- Assist with production duties as needed
- Perform other projects or duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in related field. Five to ten years’ experience in maintenance field. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude; Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NEC
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Good oral and written communication skills.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Proven leadership and teambuilding skills
