About the role

The Digital Content Specialist is a marketing-driven role responsible for crafting high-performing, brand-aligned content that resonates with students, families, and higher education supporting all go-to-market touchpoints. This role blends strong editorial instincts with modern messaging for SEO and AI-aware content practices, producing informative, compliant content that performs across traditional search engines while also serving as authoritative input for large language models (LLMs). Working cross-functionally, this role ensures GradGuard’s content is clear, discoverable, and trusted by students, families, and higher education partners while reinforcing GradGuard’s leadership in protecting the financial investment of higher education. If you’re equal parts creative and strategic, and you love using words to move people to action, this role is for you.

What you'll do

  • Shape and execute a content strategy that aligns with marketing goals and drives consumer action across all touchpoints: web, email, ads, SMS, social, print, and more.
  • Develop high-converting messaging for campaigns, landing pages, email journeys, paid ads, and product positioning that uniquely serve each stage of our customer journey (uninsured, quoted, member, loyalty).
  • Produce clear, structured, and authoritative website content optimized for discoverability across search engines and LLM-powered experiences.
  • Write conversion-focused content that compels users to open, click, enroll, and engage, grounded in performance data and behavioral insight.
  • Own and manage a unified content calendar aligned to campaign timelines and go-to-market priorities.
  • Collaborate with design, digital, product, and insurance compliance to bring content to life across all mediums, with attention to legal clarity and consumer relevance.
  • Incorporate feedback, A/B testing results, and analytics to refine messaging and maximize campaign outcomes.
  • Leverage testimonials, user-generated content, and real-life stories to build brand trust and emotional resonance.
  • Lead a refresh of our core personas redefining how we speak to college students, families, and university partners by revisiting motivations, behaviors, and needs from current focus groups and consumer data.
  • Champion GradGuard’s brand voice and tone, ensuring every piece of content, no matter the platform, sounds distinctly us and reinforces our authority as an expert in protecting students from the risks of college life.

Qualifications

  • 1–3+ years of experience in content strategy, copywriting, or marketing roles (bonus if within consumer, education, or insurance industries).
  • Proven ability to write clear, persuasive, and high-performing content across platforms.
  • Deep understanding of how to adapt tone, voice, and messaging for different audiences.
  • Experience managing a content calendar and coordinating across teams and channels.
  • Familiarity with SEO, LLM-aware content, email and social media marketing, ad and website copy, and how these channels connect across the marketing funnel.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and ability to collaborate with key internal stakeholders.
