About This Position

G‑3 Chickadee—formerly part of Goodyear Chemical—is undergoing a major transformation. As a newly independent, Private Equity–backed organization, we are modernizing our infrastructure, implementing new systems (SAP, MES, cybersecurity), and building a strong operational foundation for continued growth.

We are seeking a CapEx Project Director, reporting to the Director of Operations and EHS, to be a strategic leader overseeing a multi-million dollar CAPEX portfolio and managing projects from concept through commissioning. This role drives major initiatives—including infrastructure, facility expansions, technology upgrades, and new product lines—ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and to top safety and quality standards.

You’ll provide executive‑level guidance on capital allocation, risk, and ROI while translating long‑term business goals into actionable project plans. The ideal candidate brings strong financial acumen, proven large‑scale project leadership, and the ability to mentor a cross‑functional team and collaborate across the organization.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive capital expenditure strategy that aligns with the company’s long-term business objectives including identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing potential projects based on strategic fit, financial viability, risk, and potential return on investment.
  • Manage the overall CAPEX portfolio, ensuring balanced resource allocation and adherence to the strategic roadmap.
  • Develop and build programs that align with business objectives, research and development, as well as launches new product.
  • Provide end-to-end leadership for all major capital projects, overseeing all phases from conceptualization and detailed planning to execution, monitoring, control, and successful closeout. Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet specified performance and quality criteria. As well as be a strategic member of the Operations Leadership Team.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks associated with capital projects, including financial, operational, technical, and regulatory risks. Develop contingency plans and implement robust risk management strategies to safeguard project success.
  • Actively involved in the selection, negotiation, and management of third-party vendors, contractors, and consultants. Establish clear contracts, performance metrics, and service level agreements to ensure high-quality deliverables and cost-effective solutions. Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of project managers, engineers, and technical specialists. Foster a collaborative and accountable work environment, promoting professional development and continuous learning. Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with all internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, department heads, project teams, and regulatory bodies. Prepare and present regular project status reports, financial updates, and strategic recommendations to executive management and be primary contact that seeks approval from the board of directors for all CapEx

projects.

  • Drive continuous improvement in CAPEX processes, methodologies, and tools. Implement industry best practices in project management, engineering, and construction to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve project outcomes. Ensure adherence to global best practices established by organizations like the Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • Ensure all capital projects comply with relevant local, national, and international regulations, building codes, environmental standards, and company policies. Implement stringent quality control measures and champion a strong safety culture across all project sites and activities, aiming for zero incidents.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies, automation, and innovative solutions into capital projects to enhance operational efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and improve overall project value. Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements.
