Position Overview:
The Tax Manager will oversee tax compliance and technical review for a broad range of entity types while leading and developing the tax team. This role involves managing engagement workflows, providing strategic tax guidance, supporting business development, and cultivating strong customer relationships. You’ll help shape the team’s future while contributing meaningful value to customers and the broader community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain thorough understanding of each customer’s business to communicate engagement economics effectively.
- Provide clear and proactive communication on engagement progress, issues, and resolutions.
- Continuously expand technical tax expertise and share knowledge with the team.
- Manage billable hour budgets and follow up on variances.
- Perform technical reviews of complex tax returns across multiple engagement types.
- Research complex tax issues and propose innovative solutions.
- Build and assess developmental plans for team members to support growth.
- Delegate and manage tax and research assignments to ensure accurate and efficient outcomes.
- Lead, coach, and support the tax team while promoting collaboration and accountability.
- Support business development through networking, community involvement, and professional events.
- Cultivate strong end-to-end customer relationships.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and celebrating team achievements.
- Provide consistent performance feedback and on-the-job training.
- Contribute to performance management and promotion-readiness evaluations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s in Tax preferred.
- 5+ years of recent public accounting experience, including managing multiple tax engagements and workflows.
- Broad experience across all entity types.
- CPA certification required.
- Strong multitasking, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
