Job Summary: The Drafting Manager is a leadership-level role responsible for overseeing the drafting portfolio across all projects and ensuring department standards, performance, and strategic alignment. This role combines technical expertise, people leadership, and business acumen to manage resources, timelines, and quality while collaborating closely with Engineering and Production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the drafting portfolio for all assigned projects.
- Set and enforce department standards for drawing quality and compliance.
- Manage drafting budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Lead and support drafting teams to ensure project goals are met.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production leadership on strategy and execution.
- Monitor performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure drafting deliverables align with company objectives and operational needs.
Qualifications:
- 14+ years of experience in drafting, engineering support, or related fields with proven team leadership experience.
- Strong project management proficiency (e.g., MS Project or similar tools).
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Proven experience driving performance and accountability within teams.
Criteria for Success:
- Drive department-wide improvements (e.g., 20% reduction in drawing errors).
- Develop and prepare a successor for the role.
- Consistently meet or exceed key project KPIs related to quality, schedule, and cost.
