Description Overview

Perrigo Nutritionals, located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, has an opening for a Continuous Improvement Engineer. The Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer is responsible for driving systematic improvement in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and engagement by applying structured problem‑solving and continuous improvement methodologies. This role partners closely with operations, quality, engineering, and leadership to improve processes, develop problem‑solving capability, and ensure improvements are sustained. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

Scope of the Role
  • Plan, manage, and execute projects that support strategic site objectives, continuous improvement initiatives, and mitigation of hardware/software obsolescence.
  • Lead and facilitate structured problem-solving efforts (DPS, PDCA, SDCA, DMAIC, Kaizen, FMEA)
  • Coach teams through root cause analysis using data and facts
  • Play a leading role in Loss and Waste process, through identification and prioritization of improvement opportunities aligned with business objectives.
  • Ensure countermeasures address root causes and produce measurable results
  • Coach leaders and team members in continuous improvement principles and methods
  • Build problem solving capability at all organizational levels
  • Support leader led improvements rather than owning problems directly
  • Reinforce disciplined thinking, data-based decision making, and standard work
  • Support the Focused Improvement Pillar and Operational Excellence
  • Analyze current state processes to identify waste, variation, and constraints
  • Facilitate development of future state process improvements
  • Improve flow, reliability, efficiency, and standardization
  • Support process documentation and standard work development
  • Support daily management systems (tier meetings, KPIs, visual management)
  • Support critical elements of PWS (Perrigo Work System)
  • Coach leaders in setting up and sustaining performance boards and routines
  • Help teams respond effectively to performance gaps and abnormalities
  • Support improvement project scoping, tracking, and closure
  • Track benefits, implementation status, and sustainment
Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or related field
  • 2–5+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, engineering, or a CI-focused role
  • Hands on experience with structured problem solving (Fishbone, PDCA, DMAIC)
  • Strong data analysis and process mapping skills
  • Ability to influence without direct authority

Preferred Experience

  • Lean, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence certification (Green Belt or higher preferred)
  • Experience facilitating Kaizen events, Gemba walks or cross functional improvement teams
  • Familiarity with ERP, MES, or operational data systems
  • Experience in FDA-regulated, GMP environments
  • Familiarity with infant formula/dairy manufacturing preferred
