PURPOSE/SUMMARY:
The Design Lead position for ISAT Total Support (ISAT)/Tomarco has been established to play a crucial part in the success of Capital Projects by overseeing the preconstruction design process, ensuring the quality and timely delivery of engineering deliverables, and facilitating effective communication between the Engineering team and other project stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direction and Leadership - Takes direction from the Project Management team. Provides direction to the Engineering team.
- Point of Contact - Serves as the primary point of contact for all project-related engineering subject matters.
- Project-Specific Deliverables - Understands project scope, deliverables, and project schedule. Provides engineering project-specific deliverables and durations to the Project Manager.
- Deadline and Quality Control - Prioritizes tasks for all Engineering departments to achieve mutually agreed project schedule commitments. Ensures Engineering meets Capital Projects deadlines and customer expectations. Responsible for Engineer Quality Control.
- Meeting Attendance - Attends ISAT internal project kickoff meetings. Attends weekly ISAT internal project meetings. Attend Project Meetings related to Engineering as needed.
- Manpower Forecasting - Works with the Project Manager on Engineering manpower forecasts for the project.
- Issue Escalation - Escalates project-related issues to the Project Manager and the ISAT internal engineering team as needed.
- Building Codes and Program - Develop a thorough knowledge of the pertinent sections of the building codes such as IBC/ASCE 7, CBC, ASME B31 codes, AISC Specifications, ACI 318, NDS, ACI 530, and UFC. Additionally, become proficient in software tools like RISA-3D, STAAD Pro, AUTOCAD, EnerCALC, and Mathcad. Utilize this knowledge to help technical staff with any in-depth issues and pitfalls
- Training – Assists with the training of new engineers; have a working knowledge of all training documents and how to proscribe them to new employees; provide hands-on teaching and guidance to reinforce their training and growth
- Process Development & Improvement – Work with the other Structural engineers and other senior engineers to come up with the best ways to complete all tasks quickly and correctly; must be aware of new developments in engineering principles, and new software and tools to help ISAT better meet their goals
- Product Knowledge – Must have an in-depth knowledge of what products/parts could be utilized on projects and be able to apply the ISAT line of supported products; must be able to create and catalog new applications of support systems and help create better solutions for the future

Typical Daily Responsibilities:
- Respond to engineering inquiries from contractors, owners, steel detailers, and fabricators.
- Perform quick structural analyses and generate reaction loads; provide preliminary engineering calculations and Bluebeam markups/details for internal review as required.
- Coordinate daily with the Project Manager, fabrication team, VDC, PDM, and Jordan team to support project execution.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews of all engineering packages to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
- Review and interpret shop drawings with a strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection practices.
- Develop and review rigging and lifting designs to support safe and efficient construction activities.
- Assist customers by reviewing and advising on proposed means and methods.
- Apply knowledge of construction sequencing to support design and field coordination
- Prepare and stamp engineering packages when required.
- Maintain high responsiveness to emails and demonstrate clear, effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.
- 5+ years of structural or construction engineering experience, preferably supporting capital or large-scale construction projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or the ability to obtain licensure.
- Working knowledge of structural design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI, with the ability to apply them to project design and analysis.
- Experience using engineering and design software such as RISA-3D, STAAD Pro, Enercalc, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar tools, and the ability to coordinate engineering deliverables with project teams.
