About This Position
The Safety Coordinator reports to Environmental Health & Safety Supervisor.
The Safety Coordinator performs highly responsible professional and technical work coordinating activities related to environmental and safety compliance, enforcement, and research. This position performs hazardous waste management activities regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA-40 CFR-265.16) and Department of Transportation (49 CFR) regulations.

Requirements:Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervises and participates in investigations to determine compliance with environmental and safety regulations and identifies appropriate corrective actions.
2. Reviews documentation and responds to inquiries, complaints, or regulatory investigations.
3. Periodically monitors federal, state, and local regulatory updates to ensure ongoing compliance and coordinates necessary actions with Nautique Boat Company and/or Correct Craft Holdings.
4. Serves as a technical advisor to staff and leadership regarding regulatory requirements.
5. Advises Nautique Boat Company regarding the proper handling, storage, and disposition of hazardous waste.
6. Develops, maintains, and updates environmental and safety documentation and records.
7. Maintains accurate data within computerized work management systems and ensures all assigned tasks are properly tracked and completed.
8. Conducts safety inspections of work sites and coordinates with department leadership during incident and injury investigations to identify root causes and reduce future incidents.
9. Responds to and conducts incident investigations and supports corrective action implementation.
10. Prepares reports related to inspections, investigations, and safety activities and maintains appropriate records.
11. Provides technical environmental and safety guidance and assistance to management and employees. Assists in the development of environmental and safety policies, procedures, and training when needed.
12. Ensures departments complete required daily and weekly safety inspections and conducts periodic site inspections, including work areas that may be confined, awkward, or difficult to access.
13. Maintains environmental and safety records and facilitates environmental and safety training sessions.
14. Utilizes effective written and verbal communication, computer software (including word processing and spreadsheet programs), and participates in the development and improvement of safety programs and policies.
15. Facilitates the workers’ compensation claims management process.
16. Performs hazard waste management activities in compliance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA-40 CFR 265.16) and Department of Transportation regulations (49 CFR). The following tasks include, but are not limited to the generation, handling, labeling, inspection, and emergency response.
17. Properly identify and characterize hazardous indicators and their accumulation start dates, along with ensuring that hazardous waste materials are in their proper packing
18. Conduct and document hazardous waste container inspections in assigned areas. Offering hazardous waste to an approved Treatment & Storage Disposal transportation company.
19. Act as Emergency Coordinator or emergency response support personnel.
20. Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
Education / Work Experience:
- Associate’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 years to < 3 years of safety or environmental health and safety experience.
Job Related Knowledge:
Formal Technical/Vocational Skills: Requires knowledge of environmental and safety compliance functions, including applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Possesses the technical judgment to interpret guidelines, recommend appropriate corrective actions, and support improvements to existing procedures, forms, and compliance practices.
Working Conditions:
- Requires working in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature may occasionally exceed outside air temperature
- Regular exposure to hazardous material
- Requires bending at the waist and knees and standing for extended periods of time
- Requires intermittently sitting, standing, stooping
- Light lifting or carrying 25 lbs or less
