About This Position

Description:

Summary:

We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to design, implement, and optimize integrated systems for manufacturing cooling system assemblies. This role focuses on streamlining production workflows, integrating SAP-driven planning with physical shop-floor capacity, and leading high-impact continuous improvement projects to reduce waste and enhance product quality. This position reports to the Vice President at AKG Thermal Systems and is part of the Operations team.

Essential Functions:

· Process Design & Optimization: Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for cooling system assemblies to maximize throughput and resource utilization.

· Production Systems Integration: Integrate SAP production planning with physical capacity scheduling to ensure seamless alignment between supply chain purchasing and shop-floor execution.

· Workflow & Waste Analysis: Conduct rigorous analysis of production workflows (using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies) to identify bottlenecks, eliminate non-value-added activities, and improve overall labor productivity.

· NPI & Engineering Liaison: Lead the transition of New Product Introductions (NPI) into full-scale production, coordinating with Engineering to ensure "Design for Manufacturability" and managing technical engineering changes.

· Materials & Systems Management: Engineer material flow and inventory strategies to ensure the synchronized delivery of parts and raw materials, minimizing work-in-progress (WIP) and lead times.

· Continuous Improvement Leadership: Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives focused on significant inventory reduction, cost savings, and operational excellence.

· Technical Documentation & Standardization: Establish and maintain technical work instructions, standardized process documentation, and troubleshooting guides to ensure consistent quality and safety standards.

Physical Demands:

· Must be able to sit (80%) and stand (20%) of the time May also be required to bend, stoop, pull, push, twist and turn.

· Must use safety equipment such as steel toe shoes and safety glasses when walking in the plant. Safety glasses are provided.

Qualification Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing Engineering, industrial Engineering or related field.

· 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering role.

· Proficiency with CAD software (SolidEdge/SolidWorks preferred)

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· SAP experience is preferred.

· Excellent problem solving and project management skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies

· Acting as a bridge between engineering and production, which requires building strong relationships with floor operators and management

· Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems, production planning tools and inventory management

· Understanding the transition from design to full-scale production, including engineering change management and design for manufacturability (DFM)
