About the Position:
Staff Accountant II/III is responsible for ensuring grant-recipients maintain compliance with contractual requirements, with a focus on insurance. The role also supports risk management, audit readiness, and continuous process improvement. Over time, the role will provide accounting support for Amity capital projects in addition to working on insurance compliance.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working with financial data, and capable of balancing compliance-driven tasks with customer-facing responsibilities.
**Must reside in California or Arizona to be considered. **
What You Will Do:
- Ensure grantees maintain insurance compliance as required by grant agreement.
- Accurately and promptly resolve insurance related inquiries, whether generated by grantees or internal team
- Provide prompt and effective assistance to grantees through various channels of communication (email, phone & video conference)
- Maintain accurate records and consistently document ongoing grantee interactions in internal systems, databases and CRM!
- Collaborate with extended team (both internal + external) to help organization accomplish ongoing priorities and collectively succeed
- Prepare recurring compliance and performance reports for leadership and stakeholders
- Help design new solutions as well as refine existing processes, tools or resources that deliver increased performance
- Continually adhere to organization’s policies and procedures
- Identify compliance gaps and escalate issues as appropriate
- Assisting in budget preparation and financial planning
- Analyzing financial data and deliver actionable insights to sr. management to enable informed, strategic decision-making
What You Will Bring:
- Education and Experience:
Required:
- 2-4 years of experience in customer service, accounting support, insurance operations, compliance, or administrative roles
- Familiarity with financial statements
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field
- 2-4 years of professional experience in grants administration, compliance, auditing, budgeting, or financial analysis
- Some exposure to accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, etc.)
- Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines
Skills/Abilities:
- Confidence to ask pertinent questions to grasp concepts quickly and think beyond specific tasks
- Superb interpersonal skills with comfort working across diverse teams and handling senior leaders and using good judgement to resolve issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility and ability to learn and develop new skills on the job
- An ability to perform in a fast-based environment by effectively prioritizing and efficiently managing time to enable consistent adherence to deadlines
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a commitment to delivering quality outcomes
- Demonstrate professionalism, discretion and strong discernment skills, particularly when confronted with sensitive information, topics or situations
- Analytical, database and reporting skills along with ability to prepare recommendations for courses of action
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, groups, agencies, officials, departments, and boards and manage expectations and priorities from various partners

Salary Range: $69,000-$73,000 + benefits
