About This Position

Student Success Coach (Regional Centers)

The Student Success Coach will assist in academic advising, student support, well-being, and student success services for students enrolled at the Community College's regional centers in Meigs, Vinton, Jackson, and Pike counties (OH), as well as designated College Credit Plus (CCP) students.This position is based on the main campus in Rio Grande, but will require frequent travel to regional centers.

Grounded in the tenets of the Appreciative Advising framework, the Success Coach builds rapport with students and supports their academic, personal, and professional growth. The position focuses on proactive advising, persistence, and retention efforts for place-bound, dual-enrolled, and geographically dispersed student populations. The Success Coach advises prospective, current, and former students and manages a defined caseload aligned with regional centers and CCP programming.

The Success Coach works collaboratively with Center Directors, the Executive Director of Student Success, CCP partners, and other student support professionals to ensure a coordinated, holistic support network that promotes student success across multiple delivery locations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Advising & Student Support
  • Provide academic advising and student support services in person at regional centers, on the main campus, and through virtual, phone, and email modalities.
  • Success Coach will assist and support their assigned students at the Meigs, Vinton, Jackson, and Pike County Centers.
  • Advise CCP students in coordination with high schools, families, faculty, and internal campus partners.
  • Provide accurate and timely information related to curriculum, degree pathways, graduation requirements, and Community College policies and procedures.
  • Assist students in developing and maintaining semester-by-semester academic plans, monitor academic progress toward completion, and support informed academic decision-making aligned with educational goals.
  • Collaborate with and support Center Directors by maintaining regular communication, coordinating advising and outreach efforts, sharing relevant student success information, and aligning student support services with center-specific priorities and needs.
Retention, Engagement, and Persistence
  • Utilize a generative, strengths-based approach to help students identify goals, address barriers, and persist toward degree or credential completion.
  • Implement targeted outreach, intervention, and retention initiatives for regional center and CCP populations.
  • Promote the benefits of engagement, learning communities, and support networks among peers, faculty, and mentors.
  • Make appropriate referrals to campus and community resources, including academic support, financial aid, counseling, and student services.
Collaboration & Outreach
  • Serve as a member of the Success Center team while traveling weekly to assigned regional centers to provide on-site advising, outreach, and student support.
  • Collaborate closely with faculty advisors, regional center staff, the Director of CCP, and student support offices to support onboarding and transition efforts for new, returning, and CCP students.
Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and confidential advising records and documentation.
  • Utilize institutional systems and technology platforms to track student interactions, progress, and outcomes.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned in support of student success initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and changing needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise and support students in both one-on-one and group settings.
  • Ability to learn, interpret, and apply complex academic program requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, including place-bound, first-generation, and dual-enrolled students.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and deliver advising-related programs and outreach initiatives.
  • Proficiency with a variety of technology platforms, including student information systems, advising software, and virtual communication tools.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to regional centers.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Position is based on the main campus with regular weekly travel to regional centers.
  • Mileage reimbursement provided in accordance with college travel and reimbursement policies.
  • Occasional evening or off-site work may be required to support student needs and outreach activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel weekly to assigned regional centers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience in academic advising, student success, or student services.
  • Experience working with CCP or dual-enrollment students.
  • Familiarity with Appreciative Advising or other strengths-based advising models.
  • Demonstrated open-mindedness and a growth mindset.
