Lead Cook Job Description:
The lead cook is responsible for maintaining the kitchen and the dietary needs of the residents. The lead cook will supervise the staff and the day-to-day operation of the kitchen / dietary requirements.
- Maintain all equipment clean to be in working order
- Clean, Prep and Cook meals (3x per day (breakfast, lunch dinner)
- Maintain workstations sanitize and free from contamination
- Utilize the Rinse, Wash and Sanitize method to clean all dishes
- Manage the inventory of the food
- Know the resident's food allergies
- Report food allergies to the management
- Complete all trainings by the following: FacilityStateDepartment of HealthCity / CountyOther as needed
Skills Needed By A Lead Cook:
- Have experience in cooking foods that are common to the facility population.
- Have knowledge of seasonings
- Understand how to prepare meals appealing to eat
- Understand and know how to follow the dietary standards prepared by the licensed dietician.
- Know how to implement when needed to ensure that the residents eat a healthy meal at all times.
- Understand and know how to use the kitchen equipment.
- Able to give directives to the support staff and follow-up with their responsibilities.
Must Be Able To Maintain The Following:
Fitness: Food equipment requires the physical strength to prepare food, push trolleys, and carry trays, as well as the ability to lift, pull, push and fold when needed.
Hygiene Practices: Managing food handling time helps you follow all hygiene procedures such as frequent hand washing and clean hygiene. They should also be familiar with hygiene and hygiene practices that regulate food preparation.
