Job Overview: RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Oncology Clinical Nurse Navigator for the Morris Cancer Center the New Brunswick campus. The Clinical Nurse Navigator is a registered professional nurse with clinical oncology knowledge who works in multiple departments to provide individualized culturally sensitive assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers. Using the nursing process provides education and resources to facilitate informed decision-making and timely access to quality health and psychosocial care throughout all phases of the care continuum. The Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey is the state’s only freestanding cancer hospital and one of thirteen such facilities across the nation. The 12-story, 520,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility houses inpatient and outpatient cancer services coupled with research laboratories, retail space and ancillary services devoted to patient health and wellness. The Morris Cancer Center includes the wide-ranging, advanced cancer care services offered by New Jersey’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, Rutgers Cancer Institute and RWJBarnabas Health – all under one roof. Required:- Bachelors of Science in Nursing – BSN
- 2-3 Years of Acute Care Nursing Experience in a hospital setting Oncology Navigation certification required within 3 years of employment
- Masters of Science in Nursing – MSN Oncology Experience
- BLS and ACLS certification Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
- Day Shift, 40 hours per week
- Monday – Friday, some weekend and holiday rotation Full Time

Oncology Nurse Navigator must possess deep oncology knowledge, awareness of systemic barriers (e,g, insurance, social determinants), and familiarity with evidence based resources
Proactively assist patients and families in accessing cancer care by guiding them through health system complexities,
Identify barriers, financial, logistical, cultural, or language based, and collaborate on culturally sensitive strategies to overcome them
- Provide the patient, and caregiver with appropriate resources, financial aid, transportation, psychosocial supports, tailored to patients' literacy levels, cultural background, and language
- Conduct timely follow-up with patients to assess non-clinical obstacles e,
- g, financial, social, family, and facilitate referrals to appropriate support services, reinforcing adherence to agreed care plans
- Engage actively with the multidisciplinary oncology team to ensure coordinated delivery of treatment and supportive care plans, advocating for timely follow-up and continuity across settings
- Educate patients, caregivers, and clinical staff about the critical role of adherence to treatment schedules, guidelines, follow-up visits, and culturally influenced health beliefs,
- Promote shared decision-making and reinforce understanding of care pathways,
- Demonstrate outstanding communication, organizational, interpersonal skills, plus confidence in independent problem-solving essential for navigating complex oncology care
- Show integrity, honesty, compassion, and cultural humility, even during challenging or sensitive exchanges,
- Maintain respect, privacy, and cultural competence always
- Serve as a consistent advocate for patients and families, representing their interests to providers, payers, and the healthcare team to ensure equitable care Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the patient's medical records Utilize standardized tools and protocols to track patient progress and program
