Become a Champion of Potential: Job Trainer at GAAMHA
Do you have the patience of a saint, the heart of an advocate, and a sense of humor to match? If so, GAAMHA has a meaningful opportunity just for you.
We’re not just hiring — we’re on the lookout for someone extraordinary. As a Job Trainer, you won’t just teach tasks. You’ll ignite confidence, foster independence, and celebrate success in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). You’ll be a champion of potential — and that’s a powerful role to play. This role includes responsibilities within the in-house Snack Shack concessions program.
What You’ll Do (and Why It Matters)
· Be a Guiding Light: Offer personalized, one-on-one training and support. Demonstrate tasks clearly, patiently answer questions, and provide encouraging, constructive feedback.
· Unleash Potential: Break down complex tasks into manageable steps tailored to each person’s learning style and pace. Your goal? Make learning empowering and accessible.
· Inspire Progress: Create a fun, motivating environment where every win is celebrated — no matter how big or small. Encourage perseverance through challenges.
· Track the Journey: Monitor individual progress, identify areas of growth, and adjust training methods as needed. Communicate updates with your supervisor regularly to ensure everyone is on the same page.
· Work as a Team: Collaborate with Case Managers, Employment Specialists, and other departments to provide holistic, consistent support. Maintain clear and accurate documentation using our electronic records system.
· Be an Empowerment Advocate: Support individuals in daily activities including vocational tasks, personal living skills, community outings, and recreational programs. Help them build confidence, develop new interests, and integrate into the community.
-A Job Trainer in the Snack Shack Program provides hands-on supervision and support to individuals in a day services setting, teaching essential retail and workplace skills such as cashiering, money handling, customer service, and daily operations. They also manage inventory, budgeting, and purchasing, while maintaining a clean, organized environment and fostering independence, confidence, and consistent routine.
What You’ll Need
· A high school diploma or GED
· A valid driver’s license
· Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
· Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus — but your compassion, patience, and dedication matter most
· Strong communication skills with a positive, empathetic approach (a sense of humor is a huge plus!)
What We Offer
· A chance to make a real difference in people’s lives
· Full training on our processes and tools
· A collaborative, supportive, and friendly team environment
· Opportunities to grow professionally while helping others grow personally
