This part-time, remote role offers the opportunity to lead a national project focused on improving pedestrian safety through the coordination of ten regional summits across the United States. You will manage the full project lifecycle, serving as the primary liaison with federal stakeholders while overseeing staff, timelines, budgets, and deliverables. The position requires strategic planning, strong organizational skills, and the ability to facilitate collaboration among diverse teams and regional partners. Travel to summit locations is required, offering a dynamic mix of remote work and on-site engagement. You will ensure high-quality outcomes, timely reporting, and compliance with accessibility and plain language standards. This role is ideal for someone with experience in traffic safety projects, research management, or large-scale event coordination.

Accountabilities:
  • Serve as the main point of contact with the federal contracting officer and manage all aspects of project execution
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor the project work plan, including schedules, milestones, metrics, and budgets
  • Organize and direct project staff to ensure deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and at high quality
  • Plan and coordinate ten regional pedestrian safety summits, liaising with regional offices, state agencies, and diverse stakeholders
  • Prepare and submit monthly progress reports and conduct status meetings with stakeholders to communicate accomplishments and upcoming milestones
  • Identify project risks, propose solutions, and ensure deliverables comply with quality, accessibility, and plain language standards
  • Host a virtual final briefing summarizing project outcomes, materials, and key insights
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant project management experience (or equivalent combinations of education and experience: PhD/0 years, Master’s/1 year, Associate’s/5 years, High School/7 years)
  • Experience managing research projects on traffic safety issues, with an emphasis on pedestrian safety
  • Strong skills in research design, data analysis, report preparation, and translating research findings into actionable solutions
  • Proven experience coordinating with federal agencies, regional offices, or diverse stakeholder groups
  • Experience planning and managing large-scale meetings, summits, or conferences
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Familiarity with federal project management standards, budget oversight, and milestone tracking
