About This Position
Position Summary
The Winding Technician is responsible for the precision fabrication of wire-wound temperature sensor elements, representing the first step in the manufacturing of custom, high-accuracy temperature sensors for industrial and laboratory applications. Core duties include operating a specialized winding machine under a microscope to wind platinum wire onto ceramic tubes, cutting ceramic tubes to length using diamond wheel equipment, performing a high-temperature glassing process to coat ceramic tubes, and assembling palladium wire connections to finished wire-wound elements. The components produced in this role are foundational to Temperature Specialists' ability to deliver accurate, custom-engineered sensors across a wide range of industries and applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Operate a specialized winding machine under a microscope to precisely wind platinum wire onto ceramic tubes, and use diamond wheel cutters to cut ceramic tubes to specified lengths
· Perform the glassing process using a high-temperature furnace to coat ceramic tube elements, and complete small assembly processes to attach palladium wires to finished wire-wound ceramic tubes
· Use hand tools including tweezers, micro cutters, and heat guns to handle and prepare small components throughout the fabrication process
· Read and interpret blueprints and work orders to ensure all elements are built to specification; use dimensional measuring equipment to inspect finished elements for quality and accuracy
· Document production output and log completed work orders to support accurate scheduling and traceability across the manufacturing process
· Work collaboratively within a small winding room team to meet daily production goals and communicate with other departments on assembly schedules and custom part requirements
· Report directly to the Production Manager and serve as a critical contributor to the first stage of the temperature sensor manufacturing process, ensuring quality elements are ready for downstream assembly
· Support the training and onboarding of new team members as needed, and perform routine maintenance and cleaning of winding room equipment to ensure consistent operation
