The Quality Assurance Engineer/Inspector (Full-Time or Part-Time) will support various projects located in California and Internationally.


Supports the fabrication of spaceflight and aeronatutical electronics, mechanical assemblies, and cabling by performing project engineering oversight, QA inspections, audits, and acceptance, documenting/creating nonconformance, and manufacturing planning and execution.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform QA source inspections, audits, and acceptance.
  • Perform workmanship inspections/evaluations.
  • Document/create nonconformance findings and reports.
  • Perform workmanship inspections/evaluations to IPC-J-STD-001 and IPC A-600, and NASA 8739.4.
  • Support the fabrication of spaceflight and aerospace electronics, mechanical assemblies, and cabling by performing inspections.
  • Perform project engineering oversight.
  • Oversee manufacture planning, execution, and acceptance.
  • Provides periodic reports and documentation as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of manufacturing, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.
  • Must have 12+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • In lieu of degree: Candidates with 16+ years of recent and related experience will be considered.
  • Experience with inspection techniques and procedures, processing of failure report and MRB's.
  • Experience with spaceflight hardware and a broad technical knowledge in visual inspection and evaluation of high reliability electronic, electromechanical, or electro-optical equipment.
  • Requires wide knowledge of materials and processes for space flight use as well as familiarity of configuration control/verification systems.
  • Must be knowledgeable of ISO 9000 quality systems and familiar with configuration management, contamination control, data package reviews, and integration and test processes governing the fabrication assembly, test, and certification of space flight hardware.
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional reams, design engineers, line management, and project management.
  • Excellent computer skills, including and use of computer-aided engineering tools.

DESIRED:

  • Project engineering or systems engineering experience and proficiency.
  • Fluency in English and one other language (French, German, Italian).

WORK LOCATION:

  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule; some travel may be required.
  • Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check and some positions require clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.


DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and are required to participate in periodic random drug and alcohol screenings.


STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.
  • All of Bastion's employees must be team players with strong work ethics and must be culture oriented.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.

SALARY RANGE:

$55/hr. to $70/hr., salary will depend on education and experience.
