About This Position

Description:

Summary:

This position will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing data architecture, and database systems to support our business objectives and ensure data integrity, security, and availability. This position is responsible for modeling, designing and implementing a modern data stack that enables the creation of scalable applications, and gaining knowledge and insight from the data. The position is responsible for all data sources concerning business operations and outlines a design to integrate, centralize and maintain data.

Functions:

  • Lead a cross-functional data engineering team through the full project lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and hand-off to operations.
  • Mentor engineers on best practices in data modeling, ETL, CI/CD, and cloud governance. Develop and maintain a cloud strategy for the enterprise.
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
  • Implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data security and compliance with industry standards.
  • Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models along with corresponding metadata using best practices to ensure high data quality and data access
  • Define and evolve Goodville’s Azure data platform blueprint, including SQL Database, Service Bus, Function Apps, Key Vault, and Data Factory pipelines.
  • Architect and administer Microsoft Fabric Lake houses: manage Delta/Parquet storage, notebook orchestration, and pipeline workflows.
  • Design, implement, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Fabric pipelines.
  • Integrate diverse source systems (on-prem IBMi, third-party APIs, relational databases) into unified lake house/silver/gold layers.
  • Design and maintain data models, data flow diagrams, and data integration processes.
  • Play a key role in the process of data transformation required for effective reporting, analytics, and visualization.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams and leadership to improve the quality and value of core data assets, respond to regulatory protection requirements.
  • Build and maintain monitoring/alerting for Azure resources and Fabric workloads to ensure reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Implement automated provisioning and CI/CD for data infrastructure (ARM/Bicep, GitHub Actions).
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into a cohesive data platform strategy, balancing immediate deliverables with long-term scalability.
  • Lay the groundwork for AI/ML feature pipelines and model-ops integration within Fabric and Azure ML.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Computer Science or related field required.
  • 5 + years working in an architect role required.
  • Hands on data modeling and data engineering skills required.
  • 10 + years of experience in SQL database(s) including experience with developing SQL queries and stored procedures required.
  • Experience with non-SQL databases required.
  • Strong understanding of and experience with data management concepts, data governance, and data security required.
  • Strong experience with cloud technologies (Azure) and cloud data engineering tools and services such as Microsoft Fabric required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills required.
  • Dedicated and hardworking leader who is productive working with the rest of the team required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a distributed team environment required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, travel to all organization offices (including Pennsylvania, Ohio, and South Dakota) and travel to vendor work sites required.
  • Ability to work in an office environment with moderate noise level, remain in a stationary position and operate a computer much of the time required.
  • Ability to move throughout the office to access work materials and to move work materials weighing up to ten pounds daily required.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation required.
