About This Position
Lehigh Valley Imaging is currently accepting application for the position of PET/CT Technologist. This is a full-time position working 9:00 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday out of our Allentown, PA outpatient department. Job Summary:
Performs PET/CT procedures as requested by referring physicians in accordance with proper operational protocols.
Requirements:Duties:
-Communicates clinical observations during the PET/CT examination to radiologist. Presents clinical documentation to radiologist.
-Operates PET/CT scanner for data acquisition, reconstruction of images, and documentation of images, and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.
-Starts IV lines and tests blood sugar levels, injects radiopharmaceutical as pertains to specific PET/CT scan in accordance with departmental policy and assists RSO and radiation physicists as necessary.
-Works in a hot lab performing the following: assaying radioactive doses using dose calibrator; tracking and checking in radioactive doses using digital information management systems; quality control on all hot lab equipment; wipe tests; radioactive waste storage and removal.
-Adheres to all DEP and NRC Regulations.
-Maintains cleanliness in designated work areas.
-Provides excellent patient care, comfort and understanding at all times.
-Provides educational information to the patient regarding PET/CT examinations.
-Assists in gathering and recording data for quality improvement.
-Assists in the education and training of new employees, students and other ancillary personnel.
-Keeps office equipment in good working order and maintains inventory of supplies.
-Adheres to downtime procedures to ensure appropriate information is available, patient care remains continuous and proper parties are notified, as needed.
-Maintains responsibility for own professional development through active participation in in-services or continuing education.
-Abides by all departmental policies, including safety, attendance and dress code.
-Consistently displays PRIDE/Core behaviors and represents LVI in a positive manner.
-Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
-Basic computer and telephone skills required. Demonstrates competency in Epic.
-Excellent customer service skills.
-Ability to deal effectively and ethically with confidential medical information related to patients, families and physicians.
-Effective verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to multi-task.
-Projects and models professionalism, dependability and a positive attitude at all times.
-Ability to work alone or independently based on the requirements of the department and to effectively meet patient care needs. Also exhibits excellent interpersonal skills when working collaboratively with other staff members.
Education and Experience:
-High school graduate or equivalent required.
-Graduate from approved School of Radiology.
-ARRT (N) or NMTCB registered.
-One year staff technologist experience.
-BLS required upon hire.
-Customer service experience required.
-Knowledge of medical terminology required.
-ARRT CT registry or NMTCB (CT) preferred.
-Nuclear Medicine/PET/CT experience preferred.
