About This Position

OR Assistant

JOB SUMMARY

The OR Assistant supports and assists operative teams with the daily flow of activities of the operating room (OR) and patient care by cleaning/disinfecting the operating room suites and related areas, transporting patients and equipment, stocking supplies, and performing other duties as assigned. Successful performance of this role helps WhidbeyHealth provide safe, helpful and courteous care to patients and directly provides safe, helpful and courteous support services to operative teams. Initiates and performs tasks according to established guidelines.

PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Facilitate the efficient turnover of operating rooms between cases and preparation for the following case.
  • Transport patients, trays, blood gases, specimens and equipment.
  • Support operative team with various requests while cases are in progress.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively to enhance patient care and facilitate daily operations.
  • Participate as a productive member of the OR Assistant team.
  • Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards and regulations.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
  • Complies with all organizational and department policies and standards.

JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Highest level of education completed, minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.

Training and Experience

  • One (1) year healthcare EVS experience required.
  • At least one (1) year of invasive care area terminal cleaning experience preferred.
  • Must possess effective professional interpersonal skills as well as excellent service skills in all interactions with the ability to communicate effectively on the phone and in person.
  • Must be able to plan, prioritize and organize work assigned within communicated deadlines. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
