Who We Are Looking For:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Intern to support our low-voltage wiring and physical security team. This role will focus on drafting and updating drawings, maintaining project documentation, and supporting closeout deliverables based on field markups. The ideal candidate is organized, eager to learn, and interested in construction technology, physical security, or engineering support services.This is a hands-on internship offering real-world exposure to active projects and collaboration with project managers, engineers, and field technicians.
What you will be doing as an Intern
CAD and Drawing Support:
- Create and update CAD drawings for low-voltage and physical security systems (CCTV, access control, cabling, network drops, devices)
- Revise drawings based on redlines and markups from field technicians and engineers
- Maintain drawing standards, layers, naming conventions, and file organization
- Support as-built documentation creation throughout the project lifecycle
Project Closeout Documentation:
- Compile closeout packages, including:
- As-built drawings
- Device schedules and labelling documentation
- Cable schedules and termination details
- Photos and field documentation
- Validate completeness and accuracy of closeout materials prior to submission
- Assist project managers with documentation tracking and organization
General Project Support:
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field supervisors to clarify markups and requirements
- Organize project files within shared drives or project management tools
- Support internal documentation standards and continuous improvement efforts
Required education, technical skills, and/or experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- Current college student (program related to communications preferred)
- Strong written and oral communication skills (coursework or assignments accepted as proof)
- Organized with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD (or Bluebeam)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standards
- Ability to interpret field markups, sketches, and notes
- Comfortable working independently with clear direction
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
TRAVEL:
Travel is occasionally required for this position. Must have a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle insurance.
