What You Will Do

The STEM Center is currently seeking to hire multiple Instructors for the Odyssey Camp, a program designed to inspire and educate young minds by introducing them to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) concepts through engaging and fun activities. The Camp Instructors will be responsible for leading and supervising a diverse group of

-Develop and implement lesson plans and activities based on the camp themes
-Provide hands-on instruction and support for participants
-Foster a fun and educational environment for all participants
-Ensure the safety and well-being of campers for the duration of the camp
-Collaborate with other camp staff to ensure smooth daily operations
-Maintain a clean and organized instruction space

FLSA: Exempt

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

Two years experience with formal or informal education.

The amount of time for which services are needed is not usually predictable and payment for work performed is on an hourly basis and based on actual hours worked. Workdays and hours may vary according to departmental requirements.Extra Help employees do not receive SIUE benefits, holiday pay or paid sick or vacation leave.

Extra Help employees are required by State Universities Civil Service System rules to take a 30-calendar-day break after working 900 hours. At the end of the 30 days, you may begin another 900-hour employment cycle in a new position if available. Working Extra Help will in no way affect any other employment opportunities with SIUE, including your position on and Civil Service register. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Drivers License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.

The screening process will encompass a criminal background check and, where applicable, other background checks such as a drug screen, verification of employment and education or licensure/certification, reference checks, and/or checks with relevant government registries.
