Facility Innovations Group Inc is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager Solar & Energy Efficiency to oversee the full lifecycle of renewable energy and energy efficiency construction projects across the United States. This role manages projects from early development through post-construction, including design coordination, procurement, subcontractor management, and field execution.
Projects include microgrid installations (solar, battery storage, generators), energy efficiency upgrades (MEP systems, lighting, building automation), and carbon reduction initiatives for commercial and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate has strong experience managing energy efficiency or renewable energy projects, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable coordinating engineering, construction, and client stakeholders across multiple projects simultaneously.
This role is based in Austin, TX, with national travel to project sites during development, construction, and commissioning phases.

Key Responsibilities- Project Management & Execution
Manage multiple solar, microgrid, and energy efficiency construction projects from development through completion
Oversee project design coordination, scheduling, budgeting, and construction implementation
Conduct site visits to evaluate mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and energy systems
Gather and analyze facility performance data including utility usage and infrastructure documentation
Ensure project deliverables meet performance targets and customer energy savings objectives
- Engineering & Development Coordination
Collaborate with development and design teams to value-engineer projects for constructability and efficiency
Provide technical guidance throughout development, commissioning, and operational phases
Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and bid documents
Develop measurement and verification (M&V) plans and coordinate with software vendors
- Procurement & Vendor Management
Develop and manage relationships with equipment suppliers and subcontractors
Lead subcontractor RFP processes and contractor selection
Manage procurement schedules, equipment delivery timelines, and payment terms
Coordinate permitting processes including EPA permits, electrical permits, building permits, zoning approvals, and utility interconnection
- Construction Oversight
Oversee field construction activities including permitting, mobilization, logistics, and subcontractor coordination
Support construction managers during project implementation and commissioning phases
Monitor project schedules and ensure milestones are achieved
Ensure compliance with safety standards, local codes, and industry best practices
- Client & Team Collaboration
Collaborate with project development teams to support client proposals and RFP responses
Maintain strong relationships with building owners, engineers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across internal teams
- Education
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
- Experience
3+ years of progressive engineering design or project management experience in energy-related projects
- Experience managing projects involving one or more of the following:
Solar photovoltaic systems
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
Combined Heat & Power (CHP) systems
Microgrid installations
Electric vehicle charging infrastructure
Industrial energy or process automation systems
- Technical Skills
Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and its application to solar systems
- Experience with energy modeling and analysis tools such as:
Helioscope
PVSyst
EnergyToolbase
eQuest
Homer
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering, design, and construction documentation
Field experience with installation, startup, and commissioning of solar or energy projects preferred
- Additional Requirements
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Willingness to travel nationally for project development, construction, and commissioning activities
