The Cook is responsible for performing assigned duties in accordance with NRHN policies, procedures, and standards of care while supporting the organization’s mission, values, and commitment to quality outcomes.
Essential Responsibilities
The Cook plays a vital role in preparing and serving high-quality meals for patients, visitors, and staff. This position relies on strong culinary skills and a commitment to consistency to ensure every dish meets our standards for taste, nutrition, and presentation. The Cook is also responsible for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen, supporting dishwashing staff, and ensuring compliance with sanitation, safety, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- High School diploma preferred
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize independently
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
- Strong teamwork skills
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities
- Preferred Qualifications
- ServSafe Certification
- Two years of cooking experience or one year of culinary school
- Knowledge of food service techniques, sanitation, and safety standards
- Familiarity with therapeutic diets and IDDSI guidelines
- Passion for customer service and ability to work with a diverse team
- Proficiency in a variety of cooking methods (e.g., roasting, braising, sautéing)
