Summary
Transports patients of any age to and from the Radiology and Cardiology department utilizing safe transportation methods.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Transports patients of any age to and from the Radiology department following appropriate protocol.
• Prints/delivers patient ticket to ride and patient handoff information to appropriate staff.
• Checks armband for patient identification.
• Transports contrast media and non-narcotic medication upon request.
• Responsible for patient’s chart during transportation.
• Monitors patient condition while in transit. Recognizes emergency situations and seeks assistance as needed.
• Operates & Maintains and inventories rolling equipment, i.e. stretchers/wheelchairs/oxygen tanks.
Provides Services Excellence by using the “AIDET“ Technique: Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation and Thank You.
• Demonstrates polite and respectful and knowledgeable communication with all coworkers and guests.
• Demonstrates cost effectiveness in the use of supplies and equipment as indicated by minimum wastage of supplies.
• Ensures own health status as demonstrated by timely compliance with all hospital health and safety policies.
• Demonstrates competency in the use of RIS/PACS, and any other information system as required.
• Understands and adheres to departmental policies and procedures related to specific job function; acts as resource to other staff and new personnel.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement program.
• Maintains patient confidentially and is aware of patient rights.
• Keeps immediate supervisor informed of any unusual concerns.
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required. Ability to follow written and oral instructions, must be able to see, hear normal sounds, walk and stand for prolonged periods and give/receive verbal communication. Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
