Senior Safety Manager

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Safety Manager in Switzerland.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring the highest standards of health and safety across large-scale construction projects in highly complex and fast-paced environments. You will act as a key on-site safety leader, providing operational support, guidance, and oversight across multiple active projects, often stepping in to maintain continuity when safety management coverage is required. The position combines hands-on field presence with strategic oversight of safety systems, risk management, and compliance performance. You will work closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to reinforce a strong safety culture and ensure regulatory and client requirements are consistently met. The environment is dynamic and project-driven, requiring adaptability, strong judgment, and a proactive approach to risk prevention. This is a highly visible role where your expertise directly contributes to safe project delivery and operational excellence.

Accountabilities:
  • Provide on-site safety management support across active construction projects, ensuring continuity of safety leadership where required.
  • Maintain a strong “boots on the ground” presence to actively monitor, guide, and improve health and safety practices on site.
  • Support the enhancement and implementation of health and safety management systems, procedures, and best practices.
  • Conduct detailed health and safety audits and inspections across multiple project environments.
  • Review and evaluate risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), lifting plans, and other safety-critical documentation.
  • Monitor and report on client-driven KPIs and safety performance indicators.
  • Support incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Assist in delivering safety training and guidance to project management and operational teams.
  • Assess the effectiveness of site-level safety planning, communication, and compliance with regulatory and client requirements.
Requirements:
  • Formal qualification in Health & Safety management (minimum EQF Level 6 or equivalent).
  • 3–5+ years of experience in health and safety roles, preferably within construction or high-risk environments.
  • Proven experience managing and auditing high-risk activities on active project sites.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and safe systems of work.
  • Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to operate effectively in field-based, multi-site environments with frequent travel.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills in fluent English.
  • Proactive, hands-on mindset with strong attention to detail and safety culture leadership.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse project teams.
  • EU passport and eligibility to travel across projects in the region.
Benefits:
  • Opportunity to work on large-scale, high-impact construction projects across international environments.
  • Dynamic field-based role with strong autonomy and visible on-site presence.
  • Exposure to complex, high-risk projects with leading industry stakeholders.
  • Collaborative and people-focused work culture emphasizing respect, inclusion, and teamwork.
  • Strong focus on professional development within a global consultancy environment.
  • Opportunity to contribute directly to safer, more sustainable construction practices.
  • Inclusive workplace with reasonable accommodations available where needed.
