This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and practice-oriented Interior Design program focused on studio-based learning and applied creativity. You will guide students through real-world design challenges, helping them translate theory into professional practice through hands-on projects and interactive instruction. The position is remote within Canada, with synchronous teaching aligned to EST time zones and a strong emphasis on live engagement. You will support adult learners balancing education with professional and personal commitments, fostering an inclusive and flexible learning environment. Working within a collaborative academic community, you will play a key role in shaping future design professionals. In this role, you will deliver high-quality, studio-based Interior Design education while supporting student development through interactive, practice-driven instruction and ongoing feedback.
- Deliver studio-based Interior Design courses focused on applied learning, including client briefs, spatial planning, and concept development
- Facilitate synchronous online classes, live critiques, and project presentations to maintain a highly interactive learning experience
- Assess student work through project-based evaluations, providing timely, constructive, and development-focused feedback
- Maintain regular communication with students through office hours and ongoing academic support
- Collaborate with program leadership and faculty to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with program outcomes
- Participate in faculty development and stay current with Interior Design industry practices and pedagogical approaches
You bring a strong blend of academic credentials, professional Interior Design experience, and teaching capability, with the ability to translate real-world practice into engaging studio-based learning.
- Terminal degree in Interior Design or closely related field (Master’s in Interior Design preferred; Architecture considered with relevant experience)
- Active NCIDQ certification required
- Professional Interior Design experience across residential, commercial, institutional, or mixed-use projects
- Experience teaching Interior Design or related disciplines in post-secondary or studio-based environments
- Strong proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Photoshop
- Ability to teach in synchronous, interactive online environments and engage diverse adult learners
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills in academic settings
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and engagement with Interior Design practice and/or research
- Competitive compensation per course ($5,750 per studio course / $4,250 per theory-based course)
