KP is looking for an experienced Director of Operations at our West Sacramento facility . The Director, Operations provides daily leadership and oversight for a high volume, time critical direct print and mail production environment. This role ensures exceptional customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance through effective management of print, inserting, fulfillment, and distribution operations. In addition, the Director, Operations leads managers and production teams to optimize labor, materials, equipment, and processes while meeting strict service level commitments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leadership skills to inspire respect and trust; motivate others to perform well; effectively influences others toward accomplishment of objectives/goals. Fosters cooperation and consensus from team. Builds morale and team commitment, establishes productive relationships.
- Oversee operations across production, finishing, mailing/assembly, postal, warehouse/facility services, and related support functions to deliver safety, quality, cost, delivery, and service objectives.
- Directly supervise managers and production employees in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Partner with executive leadership and functional peers (e.g., estimating, planning, purchasing, production control, quality) to set priorities, remove barriers, and optimize enterprise workflow.
- Establish, monitor, and improve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for productivity, quality, safety, schedule adherence, and cost driving root-cause problem solving and measurable continuous improvement.
- Standardize and govern Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure they are created, maintained, trained, and consistently executed across teams.
- Direct production planning and scheduling to ensuring optimal utilization of people, equipment, and materials while meeting customer requirements and internal commitments.
- Own production and quality control standards ensure product/service quality meets customer expectations and internal requirements through auditing, controls, and corrective action systems.
- Ensure compliance with all company, customer, and government policies, procedures, and regulations across the operation.
- Ensure operational readiness of equipment and assets through preventive maintenance emphasis and timely resolution of maintenance-related constraints impacting production.
- Communicate clearly and timely with customers, vendors, and employees, translating priorities into actionable plans and ensuring alignment on requirements, timing, and quality expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operational and business needs.

- 10- 15 years of operations or plant management experience in digital print, direct mail, fulfillment, or related manufacturing environments.
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or in lieu of degree, 6 years directly related work experience.
- Strong people leadership experience with the ability to build morale, drive consensus, and motivate teams toward shared goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external partners.
- Strategic planning capability, including evaluating, developing, and implementing new operational strategies and procedures.
- Strong customer focused mindset with the ability to set realistic expectations and deliver on commitments.
- Advanced problem solving skills, including the ability to anticipate issues, analyze data, evaluate options, and implement solutions.
- Strong planning, organization, delegation, and supplier management skills.
- Experience with workflow automation, production scheduling, and KPI management preferred.
