Description:

Position Summary:

The Director of Supply Chain is a senior leadership role responsible for the end-to-end planning, execution, and optimization of the company’s supply chain operations. This role ensures that production schedules, material availability, inventory accuracy, and logistics execution are tightly aligned to customer demand, service commitments, and financial objectives. The Director of Supply Chain drives disciplined use of planning systems, standardizes processes, improves data accuracy, and translates operational complexity into predictable, scalable execution.

Roles and Responsibilities/ Essential Functions:

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Own and continuously improve the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to balance customer service, capacity, and cost.
  • Ensure production schedules are achievable, stable, and aligned with MRP outputs.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Sales, and Customer Service to manage demand variability and priorities.
  • Drive improved schedule adherence and reduced expediting.

ERP / MRP Governance & Optimization

  • Serve as the business owner for ERP and MRP processes.
  • Ensure disciplined, accurate, and consistent use of planning parameters (lead times, lot sizes, safety stock, BOM accuracy).
  • Lead ERP/MRP system optimization initiatives to improve planning quality and execution reliability.
  • Act as executive sponsor and business lead for an ERP upgrade within the next 24 months.
  • Partner with business leaders to define requirements, lead testing, manage change adoption, and ensure successful implementation.

Raw Material Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Lead raw material purchasing strategy to ensure availability, cost competitiveness, and supply continuity.
  • Establish supplier performance management processes (Service-On Time Performance lead time reliability, quality).
  • Balance strategic sourcing with tactical responsiveness to production needs.
  • Mitigate supply risk through supplier diversification and forward-looking demand visibility.

Inventory Management & Accuracy

  • Own inventory strategy across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy and alignment with MRP through cycle counting, root-cause analysis, and corrective action.
  • Optimize inventory levels to balance service, working capital, and obsolescence risk.
  • Drive improvements in inventory turns and forecast alignment.

Freight & Logistics Optimization

  • Lead inbound and outbound freight strategy to reduce total landed cost while meeting customer service expectations.
  • Optimize mode selection, carrier performance, and shipment consolidation.
  • Partner with Customer Service and Operations to ensure on-time, in-full delivery performance.

Customer Service Enablement

  • Ensure supply chain execution consistently supports customer delivery commitments.
  • Translate customer service requirements into executable supply plans.
  • Actively participate in service recovery and root-cause analysis for missed commitments.

Leadership, Team Development & Change Management

  • Build a high-performing supply chain organization with clear accountability and metrics.
  • Develop talent across planning, procurement, and systems teams.
  • Lead change management efforts associated with process improvements and ERP transformation.
  • Foster a data-driven, continuous-improvement culture.

Requirements:

Required Skills, Education and/ or Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business, or related field

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive supply chain leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in ERP/MRP systems and planning discipline
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and large-scale change initiatives
  • Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience leading or heavily participating in an ERP implementation or migration
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP)
  • Experience in multi-site manufacturing environments
