Part-Time Tube Inspector (Mechanical Inspector Level I / II)

Location: Brockville, Ontario (Local candidates near Brockville/Toronto preferred)
Schedule: Part-Time | 2–3 Days Per Week (Flexible/Variable Schedule)
Shift: 1st Shift | Onsite
Contract: Long-Term Ongoing Contract (Minimum 1-Year Availability Required)
Target Start: Early June

Position Overview

We are seeking a Part-Time Tube Inspector to support source inspection activities at a precision tube manufacturing facility in Brockville, Ontario. You will be deployed through SQA’s operations center based on client need and each supplier’s production schedule. Travel reimbursement will be provided.

This role is ideal for someone seeking supplemental income, flexible part-time work, or a retirement-friendly opportunity, while contributing to a high-quality manufacturing environment.

This position focuses on borescope inspections of steel, titanium, and Inconel tubing, verifying internal surface quality, cleanliness, and conformance to engineering and quality requirements. This is not a full-time role, but work may fluctuate and could become busy at times, so candidates should be comfortable with a flexible, as-needed schedule.

Both experienced inspectors and hands-on manufacturing or technician backgrounds will be considered, with client training provided.

What you’ll do:
You will be conducting visual inspection of medical device products on an on-call basis 2 times a week. This is a contract role lasting one year.
Requirements
  • Experience in quality assurance, inspection, manufacturing, or production environments
  • Mechanical inspection experience in any industry welcomed (aerospace, medical device, oil & gas, manufacturing, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and inspection criteria
  • Basic computer or tablet proficiency for documentation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Availability to support the contract for a full year minimum
  • Willingness to complete one week of required client training in Canada
  • Must be able to pass a background check

Preferred
  • Borescope inspection experience (training can be provided)
  • Source inspection or quality assurance background
  • Experience with tube, pipe, or commodity inspection
  • Familiarity with FOD control programs

Note: No GD&T experience required. This role is focused purely on borescope inspection.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity to handle inspection tools and components
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs as needed
  • Visual acuity sufficient for detailed inspections (with or without corrective lenses)
  • Mileage reimbursement available at the current U.S. government mileage rate ($0.725/mile driven)
  • Flexible 2–3 day weekly schedule; workdays may vary
  • Long-term opportunity with potential for continued work beyond initial contract period
  • Local candidates strongly preferred (1 hour radius)
