Position Overview:
The following explains the job responsibilities and expectations for all employees who are classified in this job description. The Administrative Lieutenant is responsible for administrative and programmatic functions of the Protective Force. This position is not an armed position, unless standing shift when necessary.
Responsibilities:
Revision of security program plans and procedures
Participation in self-assessments and working groups
Maintenance of Security Police Officer qualifications
Performance of Security Police Officer functions as necessary
Performance of other security duties as assigned
Maintenance of other required security certifications
Reports to the Facility Security Officer
Training and qualification required for SPO
Department of Energy National Training Center DOE-101DE, Department of Energy Orientation
Department of Energy National Training Center PFT-460DE, Introduction to Tactical Leadership
Additional Department of Energy National Training Center Supervisor/Leadership Courses
Additional Department of Energy National Training Center programmatic security courses
Qualifications/Experience:
Prior armed security experience, law enforcement, military service, related college degree or combination of the above
Ability to successfully complete an extensive training program including firearms qualifications
Must be able to pass an annual ½ mile physical fitness run test and a 40-yard dash test
Citizen of the United States
21 years of age or older
Possess at least an “L” security clearance or ability to obtain
Ability to successfully complete an extensive pre-employment medical evaluation that includes a strenuous physical agility test
Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment psychological evaluation
Ability to read, write and communicate in English to a group of people
Willingness to work all shifts, holidays and weekends
Ability to complete written reports
Capable of understanding and following directives, policies and procedures
Have and maintain a clear criminal record
Pass an extensive background investigation
Be drug free and pass initial and random drug screenings
