This leadership role sits at the intersection of operational excellence, claims management, and strategic transformation within a high-performance service environment. The position is responsible for driving enterprise-wide initiatives that improve claims operations, enhance reporting accuracy, and strengthen overall organizational effectiveness. You will partner closely with senior leadership to shape operational strategies, translate business objectives into actionable plans, and ensure alignment across multiple stakeholders. The role requires a strong ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and deliver insights that inform decision-making and performance improvements. In addition, you will lead and mentor teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and Lean thinking. This is a highly visible role that combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational impact in a mission-driven environment focused on customer outcomes.

Accountabilities:
  • Support senior leadership in defining operational strategies and priorities, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and claims business goals.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve claims operations, performance outcomes, and organizational efficiency.
  • Oversee a portfolio of operational projects, ensuring successful execution, documentation, and standardization of processes and best practices.
  • Develop and enhance performance management systems, reporting tools, and forecasting models to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Analyze complex operational data to generate insights, identify trends, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure alignment across business intelligence, learning, quality, and vendor teams.
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports, fostering a high-performance and improvement-focused team culture.
  • Drive Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies across operational processes and workflows.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, supporting leadership with strategic recommendations and operational expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and internal performance expectations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in group disability claims or related insurance/operations environments.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams in a claims or operations setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Experience developing performance management systems, reporting frameworks, and operational analytics.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to influence decisions, manage competing priorities, and drive execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional certification (such as Rummler-Brache or CEBS) preferred.
