Job Description
Rochelle Zell Jewish High School, in Deerfield, is looking for a compassionate, professional, and collaborative School Counselor. You’ll bring expertise in social-emotional support, foster student well-being, build strong relationships, and support students’ academic and social-emotional growth. You’ll also develop programming for both students and parents and broader community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide individual and group counseling focused on social-emotional development, mental health, and student well-being
• Support students navigating personal, academic, and peer-related challenges; respond to crisis situations with appropriate interventions and referrals
• Partner with faculty, administration, and the school social worker to develop collaborative approaches and supports for student cases
• Communicate proactively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and well-being
• Serve as liaison between the school and outside service providers, including therapists and PHP/IOP programs
• Design and deliver developmentally appropriate counseling curriculum — advisory, workshops, and SEL programming
• Lead initiatives related to student wellness, mental health, and belonging
• Participate in Student Services Team meetings and attend school programming, including Shabbatonim, the Junior Trip, and other overnight and extracurricular events
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with legal and ethical standards

Qualifications
• Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
• Valid state certification/licensure as a school counselor
• Expertise in social-emotional support and student wellness
• Experience developing and presenting SEL programming for students, parents, and the broader community
• Strong relationship-building skills across students, families, and professional colleagues
• Ability to respond to crisis situations with calm, professional judgment
Compensation
$75,000–$80,000 + benefits
