Dear reader,

Welcome to Inside JobTarget — a new blog series where we sit down with the people behind our products to share the stories, ideas, and insights that shape them.

In this ninth conversation, we’re diving into the Jobs Division and how Job Management functions at JobTarget.

Interview with Nikole Zis, Executive Director, Jobs Division.

Tell me a little bit about what you do at JobTarget.

Nikole: I lead the Jobs Division at JobTarget, and at its core, our mission is simple: make hiring easier.

Every day, our team is focused on helping employers manage their jobs, advertise them effectively, and get them in front of the right candidates. We spend a lot of time thinking about the customer experience, and constantly ask, how can we make it easier to understand what’s happening with your jobs, reduce manual work, and give you confidence that your recruiting efforts are working?

One of the things I enjoy most about my role is that we get to solve real problems for recruiters and hiring teams. Hiring is challenging enough without having to wonder where a job is posted, whether it’s still active, or if everything is working behind the scenes. If we do our job well, those are things our customers never have to think about.

Can you describe what the Jobs Division manages and the strategy behind it?

Nikole: Our team is responsible for the products and services that help customers manage and advertise their jobs through JobTarget.

One of our biggest areas of focus is Job Manager, which is where customers can view their jobs, understand what’s open, manage postings, and quickly advertise positions. We want Job Manager to become the place customers naturally go whenever they have a question about their recruiting activity.

Behind the scenes, we also support the services that create your jobs in the JobTarget system and deliver them to recruiting destinations. While there is a lot of technology involved, our focus is never the technology itself. It’s creating a simple, intuitive experience for our customers.

We work closely with other teams across JobTarget that connect with applicant tracking systems and recruiting partners. Together, those pieces create a seamless experience, allowing customers to manage their hiring without worrying about the complexity happening in the background.

Can you walk me through how a job goes from an ATS, through JobTarget, to a job site?

Nikole: Absolutely.

While it feels simple from the employer's perspective, there's a lot happening behind the scenes to make sure every job gets where it needs to go.

Everything starts with your ATS. We either connect directly through our APIs for real-time updates or use one of our importers to automatically pull jobs from your ATS, careers site, or job feed. Either way, as jobs are created, updated, or closed, JobTarget brings that information into our platform.

From there, you would interact with our system to determine where each job should be distributed. Employers can manually select job boards through our Marketplace, or they can use Autoposter to automatically route jobs based on rules they've configured—such as location, department, job type, or other criteria. That automation means the right jobs are sent to the right places without someone having to manage every posting individually.

Once the destination is determined, our distribution platform takes over. Every publisher has different technical requirements, so we translate each job into the format that specific site expects and deliver it through the appropriate integration, or our Data Entry Specialists jump in to get your job where it needs to go.

Finally, we don't just send the job and hope for the best. We verify that it's been delivered. Our confirmation services validate that postings are visible to candidates, while our monitoring systems automatically detect issues, retry failed deliveries, and alert our teams when intervention is needed.

The end result is a seamless experience for employers. You post a job once in your ATS, and JobTarget handles the integrations, automation, delivery, monitoring, and confirmation needed to get it in front of the right candidates.

Who and what does this impact?

Nikole: Recruiters and HR teams can speed up their recruiting time to hire and spend their time on high-value work instead of administrative job posting and management tasks.

When employers can manage jobs more easily and get them in front of candidates faster, hiring managers fill positions sooner, HR teams spend less time on administrative work, and job seekers find more accurate, up-to-date opportunities.

It also creates a better experience for everyone involved in the hiring process. Customers gain more visibility into their recruiting efforts, while our partners benefit from cleaner, more reliable job data.

Ultimately, we’re helping connect employers with great talent as efficiently as possible.

The job market feels unpredictable right now. Why is now the right time to invest in a recruitment tool like JobTarget?

Nikole: The hiring landscape has changed dramatically over the last several years, and one thing has become very clear: recruiters are being asked to do more with less.

Whether companies are growing quickly or hiring more selectively, efficiency matters. Teams don’t want to spend valuable time managing spreadsheets, checking multiple systems, or wondering whether jobs have been posted correctly. They want to focus on finding the right people.

That’s why we’re investing so heavily in simplifying the recruiting experience.

Our goal is to give customers one place where they can manage jobs, launch advertising, and understand what’s happening throughout the hiring process. The more time we save customers on administrative work, the more time they can spend connecting with candidates.

How has job management gotten better overtime?

Nikole: The biggest change has been moving from simply managing jobs to helping customers manage their recruiting workflow.

In the past, it was common to jump between multiple systems just to answer simple questions like, “Is this job still open?” or “Where is this position being advertised?”

Today, we’re working toward bringing all of that information together in one place.

We’ve continued improving visibility, simplifying common tasks, and making it easier to advertise jobs directly from Job Manager. At the same time, we’ve strengthened the services behind the scenes that ensure jobs are delivered reliably and customers have confidence that everything is working as expected.

For us, success isn’t about adding more features, it’s about making recruiting feel easier.

What are your future plans for the jobs division?

Nikole: My vision is for Job Manager to become the home base for recruiting.

When a customer signs in, they shouldn’t have to hunt for information or piece together what’s happening across multiple tools. They should immediately be able to see what jobs are open, where they’re being advertised, what needs attention, and what they want to do next.

We’ll continue investing in making the experience more intuitive, expanding the ways customers can manage and advertise jobs, and removing as much manual effort as possible along the way.

The best technology is technology that quietly works in the background. If our customers can spend less time managing tools and more time hiring great people, then we’ve done our job.

How does the Jobs Division connect with the larger JobTarget ecosystem?

Nikole: Everything we do is designed to support the broader hiring experience.

JobTarget offers a powerful ecosystem of recruiting solutions, and Job Manager helps bring those experiences together. It gives customers visibility into their jobs while connecting naturally with advertising and the other tools they use throughout the recruiting process.

No customer wants to think about all the systems working behind the scenes, they just want everything to work together.

That’s what we’re building: a connected recruiting experience where managing jobs feels simple, information is easy to find, and customers can focus on hiring instead of managing technology.
