Dear reader,
Welcome to Inside JobTarget — a new blog series where we sit down with the people behind our products to share the stories, ideas, and insights that shape them.
In this third conversation, we’re diving into Marketplace — what it is, why we built it, who it’s for, and how it’s helping recruiters and hiring teams solve today’s biggest hiring challenges.
Interview with Corey Landry, Director of Marketplace.
Corey: Before we created Marketplace, we had all of these relationships with niche job boards and we wanted to further those relationships by creating a platform that conveniently helped customers post their jobs to more sites.
Many folks stick to what they know and post to a few popular sites. We wanted folks to see the variety of job boards that are out there and learn that they have choices, but at the time, they either had to go direct to a job board or to an association site to find those posting solutions that may or may not fit their need.
If they didn’t know about a site, they would most likely not stumble upon it.
Corey: The purpose is to create a centralized location for customers to post their jobs. Everything is in one place, under one roof.
JobTarget makes it easier to make multiple site selections all in one fell swoop. It's a way for customers to make their recruitment advertising more robust and holistic instead of simply transactional. And they're able to do this on a self-serve basis — no contract required.
The value is two-fold. It's a huge time-saver for our customers. You're essentially outsourcing job ad management and getting that time back in your day to build relationships with candidates.
There's also the value of encouraging discovery of new postings and sites that customer’s may not have any idea how to find.
They can self-discover new sites or be presented with options through JobTarget that include job specific job site carousels — niche sites, diverse sites, and the most popular sites.
It gives our customers the opportunity to educate themselves and discover what sites work best for their industry or a specific role. They can experiment with all the popular job boards as well as all the niche job boards relevant to their industry or job, without having to pay separate contracts for each job board.
Customers may come across a niche site they may have never known existed or that they could even work with. There's so much to see and find that most recruiters aren't even aware of that could make their job much easier and more impactful.
Amazon is comparable to our model with the value centered around the question: why not have access to all of your favorite sites at once?
Customers also have the freedom to bring their own subscriptions and inventories to JobTarget, load them up, and use them through our platform. If there's a site you want used, we'll add it.
All in all, Marketplace is the ecosystem that creates a cohesive plan for your recruitment strategy. And you can use it on a self-serve basis, so if you don't have any jobs to post, you aren't paying anything. But it's always available when you need it.
Corey: It's worth their time, period. Marketplace gives back a recruiter's time to do the rest of their job: engaging candidates.
It takes time and effort to get a job posted to an individual job board. It's generally not a quick process, especially if you don’t have campaigns running and you just have a few jobs to post that you've gotten approval for. When a recruiter is doing this on their own, they may select 6-8 job sites to advertise on then after 30 days or so, they have to remember to go back and re-sponsor their ads. It can get tedious and clunky.
This platform essentially takes on the responsibility of delivery of your selected choices.
We advertise for you and create the ability to click once and advertise to all of your selected job sites simultaneously.
Marketplace gives customers choice and it streamlines their ability to choose several sites to advertise on at once.
Corey: Customers have access to JobTarget in one of two ways: directly through their ATS that we have partnership with or customers log in directly into JobTarget.
Corey: When a customer wants to advertise a job, Marketplace will identify and sort job site recommendations by the Job Title, Description, and Location qualifiers to present and populate their dashboard with the most relevant job sites or what we call carousels of recommend job sites that folks can click through.
Their page may include Niche job board carousels, Diversity job board carousels, Our most popular job sites carousels, Their Favorites, as well as an option to self-discover and search for job sites on their own by just simply typing in an industry or job title. This gives customers the freedom to educate themselves and validate whether or not a particular site will fit their needs.
Next, they will select the sites they want to advertise on, add them to their cart, and checkout.
Following that process, JobTarget posts your job(s) for you.
Once that job is officially posted, our customers are able to leverage the Job Manager function and can track the status of their job posting.
It's that simple.
Corey: It can stand alone, but it also compliments our entire product suite. We mostly see it used as a compliment to our Programmatic tool. Marketplace supports more specialized sites, so if a customer has a highly niche job to fill, Marketplace can provide additional value by honing in on that one job and managing it for that customer.
Many of our customers use our Programmatic 360 solution which includes Programmatic, Sourcer, JobTarget Intelligence, and Compensation Analyzer. They use Marketplace as an add-on with this package and people love the combination of these products working together.
Ask about our Programmatic Single option that you can purchase right in Marketplace!
Convenience!
