This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Referral Network Engineer based in the United States.
This role sits at the core of large-scale enterprise network operations supporting mission-critical environments across complex, distributed infrastructure. You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing LAN/WLAN/WAN systems that support highly sensitive and high-availability operations. The position blends advanced hands-on engineering with operational leadership, requiring deep technical expertise and strong incident response capabilities. You will work across Tier 2 and Tier 3 escalations, resolving high-impact network issues and ensuring service continuity. In this environment, you will also contribute to security hardening, performance tuning, and network modernization initiatives. Collaboration with cross-functional engineering and security teams is central to ensuring resilient, compliant, and scalable network services. This is a high-accountability role where precision, responsiveness, and technical depth directly influence operational success.
- Diagnose and resolve complex LAN, WLAN, and WAN issues using advanced network analysis tools and OSI-layer troubleshooting techniques.
- Configure, manage, and secure network infrastructure components including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS systems, and routing/switching environments.
- Lead and execute change management processes, including risk assessments and 24-hour operational reviews.
- Monitor network performance and conduct in-depth analysis using enterprise tools and protocols such as SNMP, MIB, and MRTG.
- Support cybersecurity operations including vulnerability remediation, patching coordination, and incident response alignment (IAVA/CVE).
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and enterprise network standards in coordination with engineering governance teams.
- Mentor junior engineers, support integration activities, and participate in technical working groups and system improvement initiatives.
- Provide escalation support for critical outages and after-hours incidents, ensuring timely restoration of services.
- Active U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance (required).
- DoD 8570/8140-compliant cybersecurity or operating system certification (required).
- Cisco CCNA or equivalent certification (required); additional networking certifications are a plus.
- 6–9 years of relevant network engineering experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, SNMP, and routing protocols.
- Hands-on expertise with Cisco IOS, wireless standards (802.11), and switching/routing technologies.
- Experience with network monitoring and automation tools such as SolarWinds, ARMIS, and Ansible.
- Solid understanding of network security principles including Zero Trust concepts, VPNs, firewalls, and IDS/IPS.
- Familiarity with enterprise environments including Windows Server, Active Directory, and Linux/UNIX systems.
- Experience with troubleshooting tools such as cable testers, sniffers, and performance diagnostic utilities.
